Join our Siemens Smart Buildings Internship Program as a Smart Buildings Sales Intern in Summer 2026!
This position will be based out of our Birmingham area branch located in Pelham, Alabama.
How long is the Smart Buildings Sales Internship and when can I start?
This internship is a 10-week program where you will rotate through various departments at your local branch office, focusing all on smart buildings and sustainable infrastructure. Internship Program Start Dates: May 18, June 1, June 8 and June 15, 2026.
This is a hybrid sales internship supporting Building Automation, Fire & Life Safety and Security businesses, for both Solutions and Service Sales.
What is Building Automation?
Siemens Building Automation Systems is a building management system (BMS) that automatically manages and controls all systems within a building. These systems include lighting, heating, cooling, ventilation, fire detection and notification, CCTV, door and window controls, water and waste management. It consists of sensors, controllers, software and communication devices. Siemens offers building automation systems for all building types and sizes, and for every use. The system is designed to manage a wide range of building systems, such as HVAC, lighting, security, fire safety, and other critical building functions.

What is the difference between Solutions & Service Sales?
The Solutions Sales Team is committed to supporting our new construction customers and will achieve booking and profit goals by developing and implementing plans to grow, develop, and manage contractor, consultant, developer, and end-user relationships; capitalize on sales opportunities within the territory; and effectively execute sophisticated deals independently within our established guidelines.
The Service Sales Team is committed to supporting our Service Agreements business for commercial building automation controls, fire/life safety and security systems. The Service Sales Team supports our Operations Team whose focus is to perform service and maintenance in large commercial buildings such as hospitals, universities, and industrial facilities.
What will I do as a Smart Buildings Sales Intern?
- Work alongside Sales Managers and Sales Executives within the local branch office.
- Assist the sales team with lead generation, prospecting, and account outreach.
- Support the preparation of sales presentations, proposals, and reports.
- Help manage CRM data by tracking leads and maintaining data accuracy.
- Shadow sales calls and meetings to learn effective sales techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, other business units, departments, etc.) to support customer engagement
- Analyze sales performance data and provide insights into driving growth.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute creative ideas for improving sales processes.
- Participate in sales related activities (learning how to prospect, go-to-market, build B2B relationships, on-the-job training and shadowing, etc.)
· Rotate through our core business segments, which include Building Automation, Fire/Life Safety, Security and Energy/Sustainability Systems.
What will my responsibilities be as a Smart Buildings Sales Intern?
- Position Siemens as an industry leader among service providers, leveraging Siemens world-class digital service delivery as a key differentiator.
- Collaborate with operations and internal teams to deliver excellent customer outcomes.
- Help prospect for new customers and engage with existing customers on new offerings.
- Visit customer sites with both Solutions and Services Sales Teams.
- Develop value-based proposals, estimates, specifications, and presentations.
- Work with operations, finance, legal and other inside and outside resources to obtain the sale.
- Attend job take-offs and turnover meetings.
- Actively participate in sales department meetings, workshops, and seminars to stay knowledgeable on current market, business, and product trends.
The goal of this internship program is to develop future talent for the Siemens organization and help you identify where you may be interested in pursuing a career at Siemens post-graduation.
To apply for the Smart Buildings Sales Internship, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Must be current enrollment as an undergraduate at an accredited 4-year U.S. college or university.
- Majors: Pursing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Energy/Sustainability, Built Environment, Construction Management or Business Administration, Sales/Marketing with a strong technical engineering aptitude.
- Preferred: Participation in a school sponsored sales engineering club/organization, pursuing a professional sales certificate or similar.
- Earliest Graduation Date: August 2028
- Availability: Ability to work 40-hours per week for the 10-week program (May - July or June - August).
- Relocation: No relocation assistance or housing stipend is provided. Must be willing and able to work at the branch office location and surrounding local area.
- Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company or school sponsorship. This program does not support students on a Visa such as F1, J1, M1 and H1B as well as OPT/CPT.
Benefits:
The hourly pay range for this position is $24 - $28 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
