Siemens Industry, is looking for Engineering Program students for our Electrification and Automation division in Wendell, NC to support our portfolio of protection and automation products and solutions. A variety of engineering and business opportunities are available across the division including project design, product development, operations, and business analytics. Working hours will vary based on team placement.
Program Overview:
The Utility Systems & Solutions Engineering Development Program is a strategic partnership between Siemens Electrification & Automation, with a focus on Utility Systems & Solutions business, and Wake Tech Community College’s Electronics Engineering Technology program. Designed for current students and recent graduates (within the past 12 months), the program offers a unique opportunity to launch a career at Siemens—either while completing your education or shortly after graduation.
Over the course of four years, you’ll gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to real-world engineering applications. You’ll start in a full-time, production-based role—either as an Electrical Assembler or Electro-mechanical Quality Test Technician—where you’ll build and test industry-leading electrical distribution equipment. As you grow, you’ll have the chance to rotate through engineering roles, collaborate with leaders across the organization, and define your long-term career path at Siemens.

Phase One – Build a Strong Foundation in Operations: In Phase One of the program, you will be hired into a full-time role as either an: Electrical Assembler, or Electro-mechanical Quality Test Technician.
Youl'll make an impact by:
- Assembling, wire, and test low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment (e.g., switchboards, switchgears, breakers).
- Follow schematic drawings, wire lists, and manufacturing layouts.
- Participate in a comprehensive onboarding experience covering Siemens products, tools, safety protocols, and operations.
- Receive mentorship and support from engineering professionals and operational leaders.
- This role requires a 2-year commitment in Operations prior to moving to phase 2.
Phase Two – Rotational Engineering Pathway: Complete three 4-month rotations in critical engineering functions: including, Mechanical Drafter, Electrical Drafter, and Project Engineer

Phase Four – Use your expertise to advance Siemens mission and vision

Who Should Apply:
- Applicants legally authorized for employment within the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
- A current student or a recent graduate (within the past 12 months) of Wake Tech’s Electronics Engineering Technology program
- Eligilbe Students must have completed the following prerequisites: ELC-131 Circuit Analyses 1 & ELC-131A, ELC-133 Digital Electronics, ELN-131 Analog Electronics 1, ELC-137 Electronic Devices and Circuits, & ELN-231 Industrial Controls, and ELN260 Prog Logic Controllers
- Mechanically and electrically inclined students who are curious, hands-on, and eager to learn
- Strong communicators and collaborative team players
- Ability to lift, carry, and perform duties on a manufacturing floor without assistance

The pay range for this position is $20.36-$24.79 per hour. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
