Position Overview:
Join Siemens in Chicago as a Field Service Technician, working hands-on with advanced Charger locomotives and Venture coaches. This job will train you on how to troubleshoot, repair, and implement field modifications, working directly with customers to achieve reliability and satisfaction throughout the warranty period. Ideal candidates enjoy technical challenges and learn about electrical and mechanical systems in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Collaborate closely with customers to meet contractual goals.
- Commission and provide warranty support for locomotives and coaches.
- Troubleshoot and analyze failures using laptops and subsystem software.
- Perform electrical and mechanical repairs with schematics and drawings.
- Diagnose and correct malfunctions in control circuits and components.
- Document failures, repairs, FMI implementations, and work performed.
- Implement Field Modifications (FMI’s) to enhance product quality.
- Communicate technical information and recommendations to the team.
- Manage failed part returns and coordinate shipping logistics.
- Operate shop machinery and hand tools for hands-on repair work.
To thrive in this role, you have:
- High school diploma (or GED)
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
- Individuals must possess a valid Driver's license in good standing.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, maintenance, repair, and FMI documents.
- Must have basic computer skills and work in Microsoft Office. SAP is a plus.
- Must be willing and open to working various shifts and days off.
- Candidates must be able to work independently and without much supervision.
- Ability to work safely, report hazards, and recognize risks.

The pay range for this position is $64,500.00 - $75,800.00 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
