We are looking for a Rail Infrastructure Strategic Procurement Intern. This position will be based at our Louisville area branch located in Kentucky.
During your summer journey with us, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in Strategic Procurement where you will learn hands-on involvement in supplier selection, market analysis, and cross-team collaboration while learning how those activities feed into the company’s larger strategic goals.

A little bit about us
Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail – including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.

Strategic procurement makes sure the lights are in the right place, use the right energy, and position the company to outshine the competition
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Morning Check-Ins & Priorities – Touch base with mentor or sourcing team to review ongoing projects and new requests.
- Supplier & Market Research – Search for supplier capabilities, gather price benchmarks, and track industry news or commodity cost changes.
- RFQ Support – Prepare, send, and track Requests for Quotation; follow up with suppliers for missing details.
- Data Analysis – Update spend reports, supplier scorecards, and bid comparison sheets.
- Cross-Functional Meetings – Join calls with engineering, quality, or operations to discuss sourcing needs or project timelines.
- Documentation – Record process steps, meeting notes, and supplier updates in sourcing systems.
- Ad-Hoc Projects – Assist with cost modeling, supplier presentations, or sustainability data requests.

- Education / Majors: Current sophomore or junior undergraduates pursuing a BA/BS from an accredited college or university and majoring in Relevant to role with strong technical or analytical aptitude
- Availability: 40 hours per week from June to August
- Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
- Prior internship or co-op experience (preferred) with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Demonstrated leadership potential
- Strong analytical, writing, presentation, and critical-thinking skills
- Industry knowledge and/or interest
