Job Summary:

As an OT Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the complete development &

execution of Operational Technology (OT) systems in the Special Purpose Machine (SPM) group.

This role focuses on software development, industrial automation integration, and IIoT connectivity

for custom-built machines.

You will design, develop, standardize, and implement PLC/HMI/SCADA solutions and integrate OT

systems with IT platforms using tools like Node-RED and MindSphere. The position demands strong

technical execution, innovation in OT-IT convergence, and continuous improvement in deployment

practices.

Key Responsibilities:

OT Software Development & Execution

• Develop and deploy PLC, HMI, and SCADA software for industrial automation systems.

• Work on Siemens platforms including TIA Portal, S7-1200/1500, WinCC, and SCADA,

Motion System configurations.

• Prepare system-level IO lists, architecture documents, and control flow diagrams.

• Lead end-to-end commissioning of OT systems at Kalwa and supplier sites.

IIoT & IT-OT Integration

• Integrate OT data and control systems with IT platforms using Node-RED, OPC UA, and

industrial gateways. Develop dashboards and data flows for real-time monitoring and

control using tools like Node-RED.

• Implement machine connectivity and analytics via Siemens MindSphere or equivalent

industrial IoT platforms.

• Enable remote diagnostics, condition monitoring, and data logging across machine setups.

System Integration & Connectivity

• Interface third-party automation components such as servo drives, robotics

(industrial/cobot), vision systems, laser markers, label printers, and more.

• Work with protocols like PROFINET, PROFIBUS, TCP/IP, RS-232, and Modbus.

• Assist in integrating pneumatics, hydraulics, and motion control with OT logic and

diagnostics.

• Ensure cyber-secure network design for OT components within broader enterprise

infrastructure.

Standardization & Continuous Improvement

• Develop standardized OT code libraries and HMI templates for scalable reuse.

• Maintain consistency in OT software across SPM platforms to increase efficiency and

reduce errors.

• Propose and implement improvements in development workflows, commissioning

practices, and data integration methods.

Qualifications & Technical Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Electrical, or related

fields.

• 8+ years of experience in OT software development and industrial automation systems.

• Proficiency in Siemens automation (S7-1200/1500, TIA Portal, WinCC) and industrial

integration.

• Strong working knowledge of Node-RED, MindSphere, OPC UA, and IIoT frameworks.

• Hands-on experience with integrating industrial robots, collaborative robots (cobots),

and vision systems.

• Familiarity with EPLAN for reviewing electrical integration with OT.

• Understanding of network architectures, IT-OT gateways, and data protocols (MQTT,

HTTP, REST APIs).

• Practical knowledge of interfacing with pneumatic, hydraulic, and motion control systems.
