Siemens is looking for a global commodity manager in Horizontal IT who will be responsible for strategic IT Procurement activities, mainly Application Management Services (AMS), striving for optimum conditions on an excellent supplier base through pooling volumes and common strategies. Strong & close alignment with Global Commodity Management.

The role requires a strong ability to develop and maintain key relationships across the Siemens organization, establish and manage supplier relationships, and to interact and communicate effectively with Siemens’ management. The ideal candidate must have the ability to self-manage workload, manage multiple projects in parallel, set target dates, meet deadlines, follow processes, develop a roadmap of projects, and implement projects to achieve optimum results.

  • In the area of ​​commodity management, you will continuously improve and develop our IT value sourcing concept and the associated IT consulting / AMS sourcing strategy
  • Based on the IT strategy and the requirements, you derive the best possible sourcing strategy for the respective technologies and/or areas. Here you will work closely with the respective regions/country procurements to translate the global strategy into local requirements
  • In the area of ​​stakeholder/customer management you assume the role of a demand manager
  • You define the right levels of participation based on the respective audience and define a stakeholder engagement plan and an engagement process. This includes preparation and planning, design, commitment, evaluation, and application
  • You take over the supplier management. This includes supplier selection, the 360° review of IT value sourcing suppliers in terms of performance, strategic footprint, and development requirements. Here you actively promote supplier development in cooperation with IT stakeholders
  • You conduct annual price negotiations for rate cards for selected countries and extend or update existing master agreements. You will also be responsible for the tenders and negotiations for projects
  • You will promote strategic projects with global impact to industrialize the AMS procurement function, conduct pilot projects and support roll-out in selected regions and countries
Who are we looking for?
  • You have successfully completed your degree in industrial engineering, business informatics, business administration or a comparable degree and/ or experience.
  • You bring professional experience in IT procurement or a related function, ideally in a multinational environment.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of the IT provider market in the IT commodities: software engineering, IT consulting, and Application Management Services (AMS).
  • You have deep experience in procurement processes and can quickly adapt to Siemens’ internal procurement tools and workflows.
  • You are confident in engaging with stakeholders at all levels and across cultures, and you communicate clearly and assertively in both English and German.
  • You are a critical thinker who anticipates challenges and proposes innovative solutions.
  • You are forward-looking and comfortable working with emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), and understand their impact not only on IT sourcing strategies but also on driving supplier performance, optimizing cost structures, and enhancing overall procurement effectiveness.
  • You are not afraid to speak up and challenge the status quo when needed.
  • You are willing to travel and thrive in a dynamic, global team environment.
