The Building Automation Sales Manager is committed to promoting Siemens strong market position for delivering smart building technology for Building Automation, as well as our Fire Alarm, and Security Systems, Solutions & Service to help our customers create outstanding experiences for their customers. Our Sales Managers lead a team responsible for transforming buildings to be digitally connected and controlled and with your strong leadership skills and passion for team building you’ll help find and hire top talent, develop employees, and promote long-term retention. This branch is a market share leader in building automation with a very solid service base.

This position is ideally based in Syracuse, NY but would consider Albany, NY. Relocation assistance is available for candidates wishing to relocate to Syracuse, NY.

As a Sales Manager you will:

  • Promote team selling and expansion of existing relationships and new relationships across divisions and/or geographic areas
  • Act as a resource to sales employees regarding our products, applications, and services; support the sales process through all phases, including job turnover and implementation
  • Communicate goals, provide mentoring to develop skills, lead employee performance, and conduct performance appraisals and coach sellers to strategically assess customer needs and identify customer buying priorities
  • Review bids to ensure accuracy to meet company and customer objectives; assist employees in setting margins, identifying resources, and assessing future business and establish executive-level relationships with targeted contractors and customers
  • Network with field organization, headquarters, and other Siemens divisions to gain knowledge of offerings, share knowledge with your team and other employees and develop sales forecasts and provide input to sales targets
  • Assist the sales team in identifying market opportunities; develop strategies to improve impact to the company; participate in development of long-range sales planning and growth strategies
  • Articulate and drive our digitalization strategy, remote services, and big data analytics and maintain trade contacts and participate in industry association functions
  • Travel overnight 5-10% on average for training and business development

You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or state-recognized GED
  • 8+ years of sales experience
  • Experience within the commercial building automation industry or strong HVAC controls knowledge with extensive commercial HVAC industry experience
  • Ability to interpret job specifications and drawings to coach sellers in developing winning strategies
  • Working knowledge and understanding of contracting business with tier of contractors
  • Excellent organizational, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite
  • Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations; must meet eligibility requirements to participate in the Siemens Fleet Vehicle Program
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Engineering
  • Experience within the fire alarm/life safety and security systems industry
  • Management experience in the construction industry
  • Proficiency with Salesforce CRM
  • NICET Level II certification

  • The pay range for this position is $120,000 - $198,000 / year with an annual incentive target of 25% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
