At our Siemens Foundational Technologies Development Center we are focused on a product development including software development, hardware development, mechanical design, and testing for the next generation concept of Industry 4.0.
Your task will be:
- Planning, controlling, and documenting safety-related activities
- Planning project-specific Functional Safety Management (FSM) and assessment
- Conducting risk analysis, impact analysis, and failure mode, effects, and diagnostic analysis (FMEDA).
- Overseeing the integration of fault tolerance mechanisms and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) measures into both hardware and software components.
- Reviewing design documentation - including UML diagrams and system architectures
- Collaborating with software architects, developers, hardware engineers, and certification experts to align functional safety practices with project objectives.
- Serving as the central contact person for functional safety related questions across the project
- Coordinating with external certification bodies and regulatory stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with industry safety standards.
- Driving process improvements and maintaining comprehensive documentation
- Proven experience in development of safety-related systems according to IEC 61508 or other relevant safety standards
- Deep knowledge of fault tolerance mechanisms, Safety Integrity Levels, risk analysis methods, FMEDA, and impact analysis.
- Experience with safety-certified frameworks and a meticulous approach to safety documentation and process compliance.
- Experience in coordinating external functional safety assessments and managing relationships with certification bodies
- Familiarity with the challenges of resource-constrained environments and the integration of safety requirements within legacy code bases.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to serve as a central point of contact for safety-related matters and the ability to effectively collaborate with technical experts from diverse fields.
- A proactive mindset, driving continuous safety improvements and innovation in functional safety practices.
