In Egypt, Siemens Mobility is modernizing the mechanical signaling system on the Benha/Port Said Railway into a modern electronic signaling system according to the highest European safety standards (SIL-4). Spanning 219 km, this project is part of the broader Egypt National Railways Modernization Project (ENRMP) and aims to enhance the safety standards, increase the number of passenger trains, and boost freight capacity.
Today, we are recruiting for a Maintenance Team Leader to join our team in Egypt. This is an excellent career opportunity for professionals looking to join a truly international team in one of the biggest projects of Siemens Mobility.
What are my responsibilities?
- Prepare, update, and oversee maintenance plans, schedules, and resource allocation across all signaling activities.
- Develop and implement standard operation and maintenance procedures to ensure safety and performance compliance.
- Conduct regular facility inspections to proactively identify and resolve technical or safety issues.
- Manage spare parts inventory, place procurement orders, and maintain tools and equipment in optimal condition.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on signaling systems including interlockings, point machines, track circuits, level crossings, and signals.
- Monitor team performance, attendance, and compliance with health and safety protocols in line with company regulations.
- Contribute to the diagnosis of complex technical faults and support functional troubleshooting processes.
- Report asset conditions regularly, including failure rates and reliability metrics, to the Maintenance Manager.
- Utilize CMMS systems (preferably Maximo) to document and track maintenance activities and asset health.
- Support the training and upskilling of engineers and technicians to promote operational excellence.
- Liaise with customers, contractors, and service providers to ensure coordinated and timely service delivery.
- Respond rapidly to signaling failures and manage replacement of worn telecom and signaling parts.
- Monitor maintenance-related expenses and ensure adherence to budget constraints.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a minimum grade of Good and a recognized qualification in a related field.
- 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in rail signaling maintenance, preferably within large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.
- Demonstrated experience working with public sector stakeholders and managing client relationships.
- Working knowledge of maintenance software systems (CMMS Maximo is a plus).
- Valid driver’s license and flexibility to travel or rotate shifts as required by the project.
- Commitment to safety and a high attention to detail when handling mission-critical systems.
