What will you do?

As a Business Development Specialist, you will be involved in a combination of business and technical aspects to help support Siemens Protection & Automation Business transformation. Products in focus are, SIPROTEC4 and SIPROTEC5 protection relays in addition to SICAM8 series substation automation hardware and software.

The position will involve the following verticals:

  • Channel Partner product business (50%) – Mostly new customers which includes distributors, VAR partners, agents, EPC, OEMs etc.
  • Direct end user business (50%) - support colleagues in existing business and acquisition of new customers.

In addition the incumbent will have the following responsibilities:

Market Strategy and Product Homologation

  • Energy Automation products from Siemens require approval from the customer to be eligible for upcoming bids. Often homologation is required prior to participation in bids and sometimes it is part of bid participation. Product homologation may require below activities.
  • Identify target market, analyze requirements, create strategy and go to market plan. Review MI (market Intelligence) data to ensure up to date information.
  • Utilize Siemens business unit external channel partner to position our portfolio as a potential supplier for focus customers.
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, marketing, and other stakeholders to ensure successful product introductions through seminars, workshops, and other channels.
  • Identify any technical deviations and outline action items to resolve them by coordinating with R&D or implementing appropriate applications.
  • Submit technical response to customer according to specification.
  • Conduct testing of devices at customer and Siemens location as part of approval process.
Tender Participation
  • Analyze customers' technical setup and provide product and solution integration based Energy Automation offerings
  • Complete technical analysis, bench marking best technology and price for the tender.
  • Follow Siemens bidding and sales process while aligning with Siemens compliance and policies
Sales Enablement and Customer Engagement
  • Use internal software and cloud-based tools for leads and opportunity management.
  • Create and deliver sales collaterals, training materials, and tools to empower the sales team to effectively promote and sell the protection portfolio, with a particular focus on the MV and LV Industrial Markets
  • Develop and execute customer engagement strategies to build strong relationships and foster customer loyalty.
  • Work closely with headquarters to deeply understand the technical specifications and features of products, ensuring this knowledge is disseminated across the organization, leverage this technical expertise to inform product development and innovation efforts.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in the Control & Protection.
  • Good level of knowledge of Siemens Protection Systems – on SIPROTEC Relays, DIGSI 4 and DIGSI 5, to successfully demonstrate to customers and partners.
  • Knowledge of Other Protection Systems – GE Relays, SEL Relays, Micom Relays, ABB Relays
  • Knowledge of Power Quality Systems, SICAM PQS, SICAM Q80, SICAM P855
  • Good understanding of Substation Environment – Switchgear, Transformers, etc.
  • Able to read and analyze detailed Electrical Schematic Drawings
  • Able to realize network topologies and architecture drawings
  • Good understanding of communication protocols – IEC61850, Modbus, DNP3, IEC101/3/4, OPC
  • French language is an asset.
  • Willing to travel up to 30% of the time mainly within Western Canada
