Your new role – challenging and future-oriented:

Energy, Siemens Limited India is seeking a responsible, professional, and self-motivated individual to join the Gas Turbine R&D, Gurgaon as “Gas Turbine – Integrated Product team (IPT) lead”. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, global product development & service environment.

An integrated product team (IPT) is multidisciplinary group (Design, FEA , Aero , Heat Transfer etc.) of people who are collectively responsible for delivering a defined product for R&D development/Service projects/programs.

The IPT’s goal is to develop a product that meets the technical (quality), schedule (delivery time), development cost (efficiency) and hardware cost requirements while controlling the scope of the project.

As part of the Gas Turbine Engineering organization, an IPT Lead is expected to drive manages & execute R&D development projects/programs starting from conceptual design to field validation.

Specific roles and responsibilities:

  • Strong technical background in Gas turbine or turbo machinery
  • Ensures technical (quality), schedule (delivery time), development cost (efficiency) and hardware cost targets are met
  • Develops Key Success Factors (KSF’s) for project/product.
  • Assigns roles/responsibilities for all task phases and adjust responsibilities if required throughout the development process, manufacturing and validation phases.
  • Develops/manage schedule, milestone, budget and project resource requests.
  • Ensures Department specific GTEM’s and design processes are followed
  • Manages boundaries, hurdles and issues and escalates as needed to management/stakeholders
  • Manages interfaces via. Verbal communication and documentation (e.g. interface documents)
  • Coordinates resource allocation with Group Leads/Department head.
  • Ensures department experts participate/contribute in the planning and execution phases.
  • Manages technical and project risks by using a risk and issue log (enforce peer reviews, focused technical reviews and FMEA’s, escalate, reporting, …)
  • Ensures the IPT team is fully integrated, i.e., includes all the necessary cross organizational team members to meet all IPT goals
  • Ensures that project reviews are conducted either by IPT lead or by team members according to project plans
  • Manages outsourcing work outlined in Statement of Work (SoW)
  • Executes project per PDP, project centric guidelines and department specific guidelines (as applicable)

General roles and responsibilities:

  • Keep the IPT team focused on its task and goal
  • Be a link between the team and other parts of the organization
  • Create and nurture an environment that supports high team performance
  • Be the primary interpreter of stakeholder expectations
  • Be accountable to the chartering authority for the accomplishment of the team’s tasks
  • Be responsible for obtaining resources, leading strategic planning, working with outside higher authority and stakeholders, coordinating efforts and coaching team members
  • Encourage the team, as a whole, to take on more responsibility and authority as it matures in capability and performance
  • Give increasing authority to each team member as they demonstrate their ability to make decisions and take action

We don’t need superheroes, just super minds:

  • Mechanical Engineer/Aerospace Graduate/Postgraduate from recognized college/university.
  • 10+ years of experience in leading the project/product technical team.
  • Must have complete understanding about product design cycle ( from conceptual to validation).
  • Experience in Turbo Machinery Product Design (e.g Heavy duty , small , medium Gas Turbines , Aviation products).
  • Hands on experience on FEA software (NX CAE, Ansys , Nastran, Abacus) ; CAD software (UG NX) ; SAP/Teamcenter etc.
  • Strong background in engineering mechanics and mechanical design.
  • Strong soft personal skill i.e. team player, quick learner, ability to adapt quickly & effectively etc.
