Position Overview:
We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to maintain and support our fleet of powered industrial vehicles, semi-trucks, conveyors, autonomous robots, and drones. In this role, you will forecast and plan for necessary upgrades, develop and implement processes to enhance warehouse operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and resolve issues with autonomous systems.
What your day may look like:
- Fleet Support: Maintain and support a fleet of powered industrial vehicles, semi-trucks, conveyors, autonomous robots, and drones.
- Technology Forecasting: Develop forecasts for current and future state technologies, including IT structure requirements and uncrewed autonomous systems. Predict and plan for necessary upgrades to the fleet and industrial equipment.
- Equipment Knowledge: Maintain a working understanding of various warehousing equipment and new technologies that enable autonomy and machine learning.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure safe and compliant implementation of new equipment, adhering to OSHA, ANSI, DOT, FAA, and cybersecurity regulations.
- Process Development and Improvements: Develop factory and departmental processes and standards to enhance warehouse maturity and integrate autonomous safety-first technologies. Lead material movement and delivery improvements, complex process changes, and technology changes. Develop core teams, report to steering committees, and project implementation efforts.
- Technical Coordination: Communicate technical information across all organizational levels, including vendors, project managers, production team members, and operations managers.
- Fleet Database Management, Utilization, and Capacity Planning: Develop and maintain the department vehicle fleet database, including details such as make, model, year, and serial number of vehicles and equipment. Understand the utilization and capacity of the equipment and optimize the fleet by rearranging and right-sizing powered industrial vehicles.
- Autonomous Issue Resolution: Optimize and solve any issues that arise with autonomous systems.
What you will need to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor of Science in Uncrewed and Autonomous Systems, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or comparable field, or 6+ years of field experience.
- This position requires professional experience beyond internships.
- 3-5 years of experience working with uncrewed and autonomous systems in a warehousing logistics environment. Familiarity with different types of autonomous equipment systems from conception to completion.
- Strong skills in developing project plans, timelines, budgets, layouts, resource requirements, and calculating ROI.
- Warehouse Management Systems (WMS): Experience with systems like SAP, Oracle, or Manhattan Associates.
- Skills in software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks for designing and planning layouts.
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, or other data analysis tools for tracking and optimizing warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Project, Asana, or Trello for managing projects and timelines.
- Basic knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python) and automation tools (e.g., PLC programming) is a plus.
- Hands-on approach to problem-solving and countermeasure implementation.
- Working knowledge of powered industrial vehicles (e.g., forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, etc.). Knowledge of lifting, rigging, and moving heavy materials using heavy-duty equipment.
- Understanding of tooling and equipment for material handling operations and their impact on safety, accuracy, quality, throughput, and efficiency.
- Some travel required (5%).

This position is located in Sacramento, CA. The salary range for this role is $98,300-$132,700. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
