About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:

The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today’s and tomorrow’s power grid!

We are looking for a Solution Architect. This position will be based in Wendell, NC.

As a Solutions Architect for Solution Engineering, you play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between technology and business. Your responsibilities encompass technical expertise, and coordination with department team members.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Solution Design: Integrate the technical requirements and specifications and coordinate them for the creation of a realization concept in the Solution Engineering team.
    • Drives and guide the creation of a functional architecture for a complete solution and of a technical realization concept over all its domain and technical aspects.
    • Evaluate different concepts with respect to technological and commercial aspects.
    • Specify and integrate standard products, components, and systems according to the required functionality of the solution and coordinates their interfaces and interaction.
    • Verify and validate the concepts and specifications versus the requirements and standards.
    • Provide feedback lessons learned to the Engineering Organization and R&D department.
    • Act internally as an integrating and coordinating technical function.
    • May draft the integration test concept (in cooperation with the Requirements Engineer).
    • May take over dispositive functions or responsibility for costs, time, and quality (in cooperation or as substitute for the respective positions).
    • Quality Assurance: Ensure solutions meet quality standards, scalability, and performance requirements.
    • Emerging Technologies: Stay abreast of industry trends and evaluate their impact on designs.
    • Knowledge are Industry knowledge and application of medium and low voltage networks, including, MV Switchgear, Motor starter, Low Voltage MCC, Switchboards, LV switchgear, Transformer, Protection and Automation functionality, and Network Communication.
  • Customer Engagement:
    • Pre-Sales Support: Collaborate with sales and offer teams during pre-sales activities, including solution presentations and technical discussions.
    • Post-Sales: Ensure successful implementation and customer satisfaction.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    • Executive Reporting: Provide updates to senior management on solution engineering initiatives, progress, and challenges.
    • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to solution delivery.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in an electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education; P.E. license preferred.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of experience in a similar role in engineering leadership, business development or a related technical leadership role. Preferred Field Service. Preferred experience with turnkey projects in medium voltage, low voltage, process automation, drives, and inverter applications.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
  • Software Application Knowledge: SieOps (salesforce); Autodesk suite, SKM, Etap, PSS/E or DE or similar, Microsoft Office, MS Teams
  • Business Acumen: Ability to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and market trends. Knowledge of NEC, IBC, IFC codes and application of LV and MV systems.

  • Familiar with Siemens LV & MV solutions

  • The pay range for this position is $118,790 - $203,640 and the annual incentive target is 15% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
