Why this role is important?

The TECHNICAL LEAD ROLE is a key operational role that specializes in either production coordination or technical automation support to ensure seamless pharmacy fulfillment processes. Reporting to the Supervisor, this individual will support daily production workflows, lead automation optimization efforts, and act as a liaison between frontline staff, leadership, and vendors. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and has a strong understanding of automated pharmacy systems and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Support & Leadership

  • Serve as the first point of contact for team members to resolve workflow and task issues before escalating to leadership.

  • Monitor and support daily production status, including reassignment of stores and shifting resources to ensure optimal workload distribution.

  • Provide regular supplies to team members (e.g., PPE, office materials, printer and robot consumables).

  • Conduct quality checks and support the implementation of quality initiatives.

  • Assist with general Pharmacy Assistant duties as required to maintain continuity of operations.

  • Collaborate actively with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of daily objectives.

Automation Optimization & Technical Support

  • Provide first-level technical troubleshooting for automation equipment, escalating issues to vendors when necessary.

  • Optimize robot functionality through calibration and alignment of workflows (DSP, non-DSP, backorders).

  • Maintain and audit automation tracking tools (e.g., optimization tracker, performance logs).

  • Monitor automation changes and their impacts, ensuring sustainable resolutions.

  • Support and track inventory and maintenance parts related to automation systems.

  • Execute and follow up on preventative maintenance plans.

Training, Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and deliver training sessions to Pharmacy Assistants and Verifiers on basic automation troubleshooting and maintenance.

  • Analyze OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and machine performance data to identify areas of loss and implement process improvements.

  • Participate in identifying and implementing process enhancements to drive service excellence.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with automation equipment, software, and tools in a production or healthcare environment.

  • Technical troubleshooting ability with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize tasks under pressure.

  • Proven leadership and team collaboration skills.

  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

  • Positive, cooperative, and team-oriented mindset.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including occasional weekends and statutory holidays.

  • Familiarity with the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is an asset.
