Why this role is important?

We are hiring a Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis

This position reports to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis. The Retail Financial Total Loss team is focused on providing impactful reporting and analyses to the business to manage and drive a reduction in Total Loss accounts, including Inventory Adjustments, Claims and Damages totaling over $300M of expense. In this role, the Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis will assist in performing analyses to generate relevant and actionable insights supported by data, focused on supporting business decisions and financial controls. The Senior Analyst will utilize various reporting tools and will liaise with various stakeholders to forecast, plan, and analyze results to ensure the delivery of accurate financial information.

Duties:

  • Prepare accurate and quality Total Loss period-end reporting and provide insights and recommendations for Senior Management, Operations and Stores to improve business performance
  • Perform period-end close activities including analysis and review of Total Loss accounts, provide concise variance explanations, and journal entry processing
  • Review and interpret actual results against forecast, plan and prior year across regions, cash keys, categories and fine lines to identify process improvements and opportunities to reduce controllable expenses
  • Prepare the Total Loss forecast with supporting assumptions by analyzing historical performance and incorporating known business initiatives
  • Prepare the Common Year Plan for Total Loss by store, period, account and by cash key
  • Work closely with Finance teams and other business teams to ensure that initiatives are properly built into the plan and forecasts
  • Support the financial analysis of various Total Loss improvement projects
  • Adhoc reports, analyses and other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to manage, manipulate and analyze data in order to identify and quantify business opportunities/risks and be able to provide sound analysis and insight
  • Strong attention to detail and an appreciation and acumen for having detailed checks and balances in place
  • Adaptive to changing business requirements with a strong ability to prioritize work while striving under pressure in a fast paced, high-performance culture
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn and grow
  • Strong sense of ownership to meet commitments and deadlines
  • Communicates with clarity; verbally and written
  • Professional manner, tact and discretion in dealing with colleagues across all levels of the Organization
  • Advanced Excel Skills & knowledge of Micro Strategy an asset
  • Greater than one year experience in finance, accounting, business or equivalent experience
  • CPA designation or progression towards a CPA designation is an asset
