Role Overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Pharmacy Operations Development & Standardization, the Manager, Pharmacy Operations Development and Standardization is responsible for maintaining and updating Enterprise Pharmacy Standards and supporting the implementation of Pharmacy Operations projects that will help promote operational excellence and Pharmacy Operations best practices across the enterprise. This role will also lead the ongoing optimization and development of workflow standardization and efficiency initiatives, allowing for increased efficiency and standardization of Pharmacy workflow nationally. This role is also responsible for the development clinical training & educational programs, to support Pharmacist professional development. This role is a significant liaison between Central Office departments, store teams and external stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Owns the Enterprise Pharmacy Operating Procedures portfolio and ensures updates are made and communicated to store teams in a timely, concise manner.
- Supports the development and roll-out of new processes that improve the uptake and adherence of store teams to provincial standards and regulations and increases compliance.
- Owns and maintains relationships with various external vendors to support the roll out of programs (such as: Clinical Viewers).
- Leads updating and developing the Pharmacy Certification programs including following up with field teams on store compliance.
- Supports the operations team in other projects and duties as required.
- Works closely with marketing and analytics team to support the Medication Organizers portfolio.
- Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement to optimize in-store pharmacy processes to improve performance, efficiencies & productivity.
- Collaborates with Central Office stakeholders to ensure operational excellence is adhered to, with the introduction of new and updated initiatives that meet pharmacy practice standards.
- Act as a liaison with other teams representing national pharmacy operations innovation, ensuring that performance metrics and expectations are adhered to, results are effectively communicated
- Support Pharmacy Operations Specialists and District managers, along with providing training and coaching on new and existing pharmacy initiatives to support successful implementation and rollout.
Professional Development Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development clinical training & educational programs, to support Pharmacist professional development. This role is a significant liaison between Central Office departments, store teams and external stakeholders.
- Track, measure and report on uptake of all Professional Development programs
- Manage Professional Development budget, and prepare business cases for opportunity areas for further education tools
- Manage and enhance relationships and affiliation agreements with various universities, colleges, and Faculty of Pharmacies across the country
What You'll Need
Skills
- Licensed as a Pharmacist in good standing
- Current or recent retail pharmacy experience, preferably at Shoppers Drug Mart or Loblaw Pharmacies.
- Minimum of 3 years of combined experience in Pharmacy.
- Proven capacity to drive results without authority and ability to build collaborative relationships cross-functionally; actively engaging and influencing internal and external stakeholders
- Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills, experienced at establishing relationships at all levels with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong working knowledge of Pharmacy processes, workflow and Pharmacy Management Systems
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interpret and present results (both written and verbal) in an engaging, meaningful way for internal users
- A creative thinker who is comfortable working with ambiguity, ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and work in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional project and change management skills; able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and training skills, combined with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, are essential
- Knowledgeable of national and provincial pharmacy standards of practice
- Flexible and adaptable to changes of responsibility reflective of the business needs
- Extremely Proficient in the use of Power Point, Excel, Word
- Fluency in both official languages is an asset but not required
