The Shell Scotford Refinery Production team is seeking a Production Team Lead Chemicals & Distribution for our Chemicals Asset. The Shell Scotford Complex consists of a bitumen upgrader, oil refinery, chemicals plant and the Quest Carbon Capture and Storage facility. It is one of North America’s most efficient, modern, and integrated hydrocarbon processing sites.
The Production Team Leader Chemicals & Distribution are the Front-Line Leaders in Production supervising teams of up to 15 Front Line Workers in a unionized environment. Their primary objective is to support work execution with a focus on safety of the assets and the people working within the assets. The Production Team Leader and Central Services Shift Leader work closely together as the on-shift leadership team to deliver the overall site Production Plan. Delivering the Asset Shift Plan through their team, the Production Team Leader will work closely with their designated hourly production team members.
Accountabilities:
Drive Plan Delivery through production planning, scheduling & overtime management, Daily Operating Instructions (DOI) execution, and maintenance schedule compliance
Lead Team Development by managing progression planning, recognition initiatives, performance & attendance management, and succession planning
Uphold Assurance by ensuring permit to Work adherence, safe work practice (SWP) compliance, process safety fundamental (PSF) compliance, ensure safe production (ESP) requirements, and alignment with Shell’s Code of Conduct and Respectful Workplace (RWP) policies
Identify the need for critical task analysis (CTA), and initiate requests for CTA development
Ensure competent personnel assigned to work tasks, 100% compliance to HSE training
Manage the development of team by using individual development plans (IDPS), job competency profile (JCP) and creating gap closure plans
Manage performance of work team by utilizing goals and performance framework and developing people by way of coaching and mentoring reports to achieve development targets
Ensure team adherence to incident reporting policy, and inform and liaise with the Central Services Leader during incidents
Foster continuous improvement initiatives and simplification of work processes to achieve objectives in safety, compliance, throughputs, yields and energy usage; both on shift and in production units
Serve as the Operating Area Team Leader during emergencies, providing critical operations support to the Incident Commander to drive incident recovery and prevent escalation
Ensure emergency response (ER) and Red Tag drills are executed as per scheduled, and ensure assigned emergency response team (ERT) compliment is rostered
Perform duties as a reserve worker
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Must have 4th class Power Engineering Certificate
At least 10 years’ operational experience in a Refining, Upgrading or Chemicals facility
Minimum of 3 years of leadership and supervisory experience preferably in a unionized environment
Knowledge of Emergency Response Protocols
Understanding of production policies and procedures
Proficient with programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel
Ability to deliver training and facilitate meetings
