In the UK, the Bristol design Centre is primarily responsible for PON ONU chipsets for optical fibre to the home (FTTh). These chipsets comprise APD/PIN TIAs, laser diode drivers, optical receivers and fully integrated transceiver ICs for legacy 2.5Gbps GPON, current 10Gbps XG(S)PON and next generation 25G/50Gbps applications. Semtech is a market leader in this space and the role presents an opportunity to join an experienced RF IC design team working on the next generation of optical access network devices.
Job Summary:
The Post silicon Characterisation Engineer is responsible for bring up and execution of automated (Python) test solutions, utilizing high performance bench test equipment (DCA, LCA, BERT, etc), to measure, record and analyse the signal integrity of high speed mixed signal products to a high level of quality on a significant sample size over PVT. Collaborate with, and work effectively across multiple functional teams, utilizing excellent communication skills, to plan, execute and report outcomes of projects, working proactively to de-bug issues and prioritize tasks to deliver to schedule.
Responsibilities:
Actively participate in the product development teams throughout the NPI cycle, collaborating with design, product, test, validation and applications engineers.
Creation of Product specific Characterisation test plans.
Identification of bench-top test equipment for the characterisation of new products.
Definition, integration and implementation of product specific optical / electrical characterisation test cells – incorporating test equipment, PCB hardware, software and fixturing where appropriate.
Development of characterisation automation software for new products using Python.
Perform Characterisation Test using High speed lab test equipment (BERT, DCA, network analyser).
Execution of product characterisation to schedule through strong prioritization of tasks and managing competing deadlines.
Creation of New Product Characterisation Reports ensuring accuracy through good attention to detail and Drive review meetings.
Able to drive projects forward by building key relationships across different functions.
Minimum Qualifications:
BSc/MSc in EE/ECE or HNC/HND with equivalent work experience.
Able to work under pressure in a highly paced, dynamic R&D environment
Excellent team-player who positively interacts and shares knowledge.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Capable of self-study/training/learning.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Able to innovate, be creative and have good attention to detail
Desired Qualifications:
5+ years’ experience required in the Semiconductor preferred.
Strong fundamental lab-based test engineering knowledge and high-speed signal integrity.
