Position Summary:

The Associate Software Engineer is an early-career engineering role responsible for developing, testing, and supporting cloud-based healthcare software solutions under the guidance of senior engineering staff. The addition of this role will increase the engineering team's capacity to deliver product enhancements, integrations, maintenance activities, and customer-driven improvements while enabling senior engineers to focus on complex architecture, scalability, and strategic initiatives. This role also supports the long-term growth of the engineering organization by developing future technical talent through mentorship and hands-on experience.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop, test, and maintain software features and enhancements under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
  • Assist with bug fixes, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities across supported applications and services.
  • Participate in the design, development, and testing of integrations and customer-requested functionality.
  • Support quality assurance efforts through testing, validation, and defect resolution.
  • Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve technical skills and software quality.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Implementation, and Customer Success teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Learn and apply software engineering best practices related to coding standards, testing, security, and maintainability.
  • Participate in team planning, estimation, and continuous improvement activities.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain technical documentation as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 0–3 years of professional software development experience.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts and software development principles.
  • Experience with or academic exposure to modern software development using C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar programming languages.
  • Basic understanding of software testing, debugging, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

To Excel:

  • Familiarity with C# and .NET development.
  • Familiarity with modern web application frameworks such as Vue, React, or Angular.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, web services, or system integrations.
  • Exposure to source control systems such as Git.
  • Internship, co-op, personal project, or open-source software development experience.
  • A strong desire to learn and grow as a software engineer.
  • Curiosity and initiative when solving technical problems.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to software quality.
  • Openness to feedback, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to delivering reliable, customer-focused software solutions.

The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; stoop or kneel; crouch or crawl; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; for extended periods of time. May have to climb ladders or flights of stairs or crawl around in tight spaces. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
