Job Description

The highly skilled and motivated Assistant Controller supports and enhances our financial operations across multiple regions. This individual manages consolidated financial reporting, oversees compliance with global accounting standards, and supports cross-functional teams in executing financial strategies. The Assistant Controller works closely with senior leadership to ensure the accuracy of financial statements, drives cost optimization initiatives, and provides valuable insights for global decision-making. This position requires a strong background in financial reporting, internal controls, revenue recognition and financial analysis, as well as the ability to manage multiple financial teams across different geographies.

This is a full-time position working in the hybrid model and at least 3 days a week from our Scottsdale, Arizona office.

Here are the core functions, responsibilities, and expectations for this role:

  • Financial Reporting & Consolidation:
    • Oversee the preparation and consolidation of global financial statements in compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and local accounting standards.
    • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes across all regions.
    • Coordinate with regional finance teams to ensure financial reports are consistent and compliant with company policies and procedures.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and global accounting standards.
    • Support external and internal audit processes by providing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
    • Collaborate with the tax department to ensure compliance with tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals across various regions, ensuring that financial reporting is completed on time and to the highest standard.
    • Foster collaboration with regional and corporate finance teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
    • Ensure the proper training and development of the finance team to enhance performance and promote career growth.
  • Financial Analysis & Decision Support:
    • Provide financial insights and analysis to senior management to support strategic decision-making and enhance business performance.
    • Evaluate business operations and propose financial strategies to drive profitability and cost efficiencies.
    • Assist in the financial planning for mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work with other departments (e.g., operations, legal, human resources) to ensure financial goals align with company objectives.
    • Lead efforts in implementing financial systems or processes that improve financial performance and reporting capabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned and related to the nature of this role and company initiatives.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degrees a plus.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, or finance, with a minimum of 2-3 years in a leadership or management role within a global or multinational organization.
  • Extensive experience with US GAAP and IFRS and a thorough understanding of international financial regulations and accounting matters.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating across multiple regions.
  • Expertise in financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, Hyperion) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
