After successfully completing a co-op or internship with top performance, we will work with you to establish your future placements. As a result, you will get to learn, grow, and experiment within different areas of both Scotiabank and Tangerine!

The Summer Intern, Canadian Banking Communications, will support Scotiabank’s Canadian Banking Communications team, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. This role will report directly to the Senior Manager, Canadian Banking Communications.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Support in the development of internal and external communications
  • Support the planning and execution of proactive media relations campaigns for various Canadian Banking business lines to elevate Scotiabank’s reputation in the media.
  • Assist with editorial calendars and content rollouts
  • Work with the Creative Studio to develop multimedia and graphics in support of communications strategies
  • Support the planning and execution of town halls and meetings
  • Provide assistance on other communication initiatives as needed.

Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if:

  • You are currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
  • You love to learn and envision yourself working for an international organization that heavily invests in your future.
  • You enjoy being involved in extracurricular activities such as conferences, clubs, and competitions and/or hackathons.
  • Superior research skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and work independently
  • An ability to solve problems and work in a matrixed environment
  • A commitment to curiosity, and professional and personal growth
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor or post-grad program in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field
  • Course work or a certificate in graphic design is an asset
  • Financial services sector experience is an asset
  • Fluency in French and/or Spanish is an asset
