Title: Associate Director, Global Loan Syndications and Media & Telecom CIB Europe


Position Overview:
Collaborates with the Head of Global Loan Syndications in Europe ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Supports European client coverage for Telecommunications and Media sector with primary focus on Liberty Global Plc (LG) and Liberty Latin America Limited (LLA).


What You’ll Do:
• Champions a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Underwriting / Arranging and ensuring that the Bank meets its desired target hold levels, utilizing both primary and secondary loan market distribution as well as other appropriate capital market instruments.
• Provides guidance for structural / price recommendations on loan terms and conditions and documentation, with borrowers and other banks. Negotiates terms and conditions for documentation with banks leading to successful closing of transactions.
• Provides performing and distressed loan market intelligence, maintains regular contact with par and distressed loan market players. Communicates impartial market information to senior management in order to assess potential future actions. Inputs and updates the activities of the secondary loan desk using the Loantrak tool.
• Promotes agency business and supports the agent role generally (but particularly in relation to the complex LG/LLA agencies), interfacing with the market on all agent matters both credit related and operational. Maintains Agency data sites and controls market access
• Collaborates with US and SIDAC teams on a portfolio of clients within Media & Telecom including driving cross-product and cross-regional work streams to maximize client relationship touch points and increase profitability generated from these clients.
• Ensures team’s credit files, agreements and security documents are complete and up to date.
• Stays aware of the global regulatory and economic landscape, and its effect on Scotiabank’s products, clients, and portfolio
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Creates an environment in which his / her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his / her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML / ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML / ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
• Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vision / values / business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.


What You’ll Bring:
• Good knowledge of LMA / LSTA Documentation and Guidelines.
• Strong credit skills.
• Good understanding of competing markets, particularly bonds / PP and risk solutions alternatives.
• Understanding of market capacity restrictions primarily from regulatory or tax perspective.
