As a valued member of a dynamic team, the incumbent is responsible for contributing to the effective administration of the Bank’s Special Accounts Management loan portfolio. This includes:

  • Ensuring timely receipt, processing, and accurate analysis of financial and compliance reporting from distressed corporate/ commercial Borrowers;
  • Assisting with credit administration requirements, including recording collateral security and preparation of account documentation and QSRs; and
  • Building relationships with inter Bank Business Units (including, but not limited to, GRM, BSC, GWO, Commercial Banking) and effectively managing relationships with Borrowers as necessary, to carry out the Major Accountabilities set out below.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Record security documentation on the Particulars of Fixed Security Form 1281611 (if applicable, and/or manage the process of forwarding documentation to the appropriate recording team (GWO/BSC)). Maintain BF system covering renewals of insurance and security registrations. Assist in document preparation, coordinate payment processing, set up new accounts and loans, ensure conditions precedent are met before loans are disbursed and coordinate payment processing.
  • Monitor receipt and content of reports from customers as required by compliance reporting. Timely and accurate compiling of financial reporting results on CreditLens and borrowing base calculations. Issues that arise are quickly brought to the Manager/ Senior Manager/ Director’s attention. Initiate and/or complete Risk Ratings within CreditLens.
  • Ensure pricing and limits are accurate and reflect CARDS data to ensure appropriate revenues are earned. Track receipt of fees due from Borrowers.
  • Track key performance indicators for both SAM and SAMU portfolios, as well as tracking Credit-Impaired Loans/ Provisioning Reporting, QSRs and Annual Reviews for accounts within the portfolio.
  • Process legal and professional fees. Track non-recoverable direct costs incurred by the Bank. Reconcile fees with General Ledger/ Tymetrix.
  • Prepare and compile departmental budget and track variances.
  • Assist with completion of QSRs and assist in preparation of credit applications as requested.
  • Update QSR Tracker on a timely basis (QSRs, Annual Reviews, Risk Intelligence, BEELs, PLDCs, etc).
  • Confirm authorized amounts for Credit/ Cash Management Products (ie Visa, Scotiawire, Scotiadirect, etc) upon receipt of a file and/or upon completion of an Annual Review.
  • Assist with preparation of the BEEL and provisioning template documents, as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting for the department.
  • Complete other jobs and tasks as may be assigned from time to time. Time sensitive non-routine requests are common given the nature of the portfolio.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Knowledge of Bank Operational Procedures
  • Basic knowledge of credit risk policies, products and processes
  • Knowledge of Salesforce
  • Knowledge of legal and document registration procedures
  • Excellent financial analysis and spreadsheet skills, including knowledge of nCINO, CreditLens and Credit360
  • Organized and able to balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Undergraduate degree and/or several years of Commercial Banking, or financial analysis experience within a Business Service Centre role would be considered an asset.
