Purpose
Support the Senior Manager in achieving the successful management of Audit and Compliance identified issues. This includes stakeholder management, effective and timely communication with Audit and Compliance and the monitoring of issues throughout the lifecycle from management action plan creation, milestone follow up, incremental testing and closure.
In addition, provide support to the Issue Management Product Controls & Regulatory Support team by acting as a case manager for complex/high priority cases that may stem from large initiatives/projects ensuring efficiencies and effective issue management.
Accountabilities
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Act as lead case manager on high priority cases that results from special projects or non-business identified issues. This will include liaising with various stakeholders such as but not limited to Project Teams, Legal, Audit, Compliance, 1B, BUC, key business stakeholders and issue approvers to socialize new or potential issues.
• Support internal stakeholders by building strong and long-lasting relationships. Help draft action plans that will address the issue identified with owners and key dates clearly outlined. In addition, provide support that includes scheduling timely meetings, taking detailed and referable notes and following up with reminders on deliverables.
• Work with action plan owners to gather evidence to support issue closure and testing ensuring that actions taken, and artifacts provided fully address the issue.
• Act as a liaison between business partners and the Audit/Compliance team by engaging with all parties and actively collaborating to ensure timely action and delivery. Provide quarterly updates to Audit and Compliance on action plan progress by deadlines and prepare closure documents to support issue closure and ensure issue clearance rates are attained
• Monitor trends of assigned cases and provide ongoing updates on open issues to project teams, senior management and the executive team. Escalate issues that are at risk of missing deliverables. Deliver on reporting requirements as outlined in the reporting calendar.
• Responsible to ensure that BCP plans overseen by the team are in compliance with most current BCP standards.
• Lead Issue Management meetings/Update calls and ensures agendas are sent prior to the meeting and that all required stakeholders are aware.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)
• Leadership skills and the ability to effectively organize a process with high visibility and multiple deliverables with specific and time sensitive deadlines
• Be highly skilled at managing relationships with internal/external business partners and effectively managing stakeholder relationships through a variety of mediums.
• Experience applying organizational skills in complex settings
• Experience working within a project management framework and an understanding of project management methodology is an asset.
• Experience with Audit support and issue closure testing including re-performance of audit test scripts to ensure issue mitigation an asset.
• A minimum of 5 years demonstrated success in financial services industry working within a defined control framework.
• Knowledge of retail products, banking regulations, financial and operations functions.
• A demonstrated ability to effectively work hands-on as well as with cross – functional teams
Working Conditions
• Work in a hybrid environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel domestically.
