MD Management Limited, a division of Scotia Wealth Management, has an exciting opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic, and client-focused Practice Lead, Investments to join our team.
As a Practice Lead, Investments you will be responsible for contributing to the overall success of the Investment Practice team in Canada, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Act as a subject matter expert on investment solutions and related regulatory requirements for Regional Leadership; coaching, mentoring and ensuring adherence and understanding of business and regulatory requirements applicable to the business including KYP and CIRO regulatory items.
- Work closely with key resources including Financial Product Management, Multi-Asset Management, Regulatory Affairs, Compliance, Regional Heads and Regional Managers, to ensure optimal sales processes are leveraged and opportunities for improvement are identified and actioned as appropriate.
- Partner with the National Lead, Investment Advice, to develop and implement investment sales and related regulatory tools and professional development opportunities that support exceptional client value/experience, business growth and sales effectiveness, which will be delivered through training and coaching focused on regional leadership.
- Be jointly responsible for overseeing the investment risk rating process and its output
- Keep abreast of regulatory changes and understand industry best practice with a view to ensuring efficient regulatory compliance and continuous improvement of the investment sale process
- Participate in product launch projects to assess the regulatory and investment practices of such project launch and develop the required processes, systems and training, in partnership with Financial Product Management, Regulatory Affairs and Compliance
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

The Must Haves:
- University degree in Business or Commerce
- A minimum of 3 years in a client advisory role or in a advisory sales support role
- Strong understanding of the investment industry and proprietary investment solutions
- Completion of industry regulatory courses (CSC, CPH) an asset
- Speaking both of Canada’s official language an asset
Pursuant to a language needs assessment conducted by Scotiabank, the successful candidate will be required to be able to communicate in English in addition to French because more: they will be required to work closely with other groups from head office who operate primarily in English, they will report to a manager from head office who is an English speaker, and/or they will serve and English-speaking clientele] frequently.
