Contributes to the overall success of the Financial Management and Global Transaction Banking by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. He / She is accountable for GTB Sales expense management, invoice processing as well as other areas of support within the Financial Management team.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Support the Commercial Card Expense Program by verifying and approving expenses submitted through the Travel & Expense (T&E) platform and monitoring and resolving delinquency for all of GTB Product and Sales.
  • Set up Commercial Cards for all of GTB Sales (in Canada) staff as applicable and cancelling cards, as required.
  • Manage GTB (Product and Sales in Canada) monthly cell phone invoices by verifying and submitting for approval and processing.
  • Monitoring the quarterly Not Interest Bearing (NIB) Report by:
  • Requesting a list of all new non-at-interest accounts with average balances of over $2Million threshold to ensure they are appropriately coded as Not @ Interest, reviewing the list and distributing to partners as required (Corporate and Commercial Banking clients), and takes any corrective action required in conjunction with the Product Group
  • Submitting for approval all 250as (internal invoices) for:
  • Legal Matters;
  • Rent where GTB Sales teams are located across Canada.
  • Submitting for approval all general expense related invoices for all of GTB Sales.
  • Conduct GL investigation and reconciliation, identifying and resolving any discrepancies or errors in the general ledger.
  • Review and fulfill invoices, verifying the validity and completeness of invoices and forward payments in a timely manner, carrying out investigations when necessary
  • Review and audit Commercial Card contracts, calculating rebates, fees and fraud totals, and issuing payments to cardholders.
  • Engage with teams and provide support partners with all finance related functions.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy,

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 2+ years’ experience in financial analysis, data analytics or performance measurement.
  • Strong background in statistical & quantitative analysis and ability to manipulate large data sets In-depth knowledge of finance concepts, financial reporting, and performance management.
  • Ability to apply analytics to business/product strategy and deliver actionable insights.
  • Experience with SQL, Access, VBA is a must.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and strategic negotiating skills.
  • Knowledge of payments, esp. credit cards, innovative digital platforms, policies, and procedures
  • Undergraduate degree in statistics, economics, finance, mathematics, commerce is required.
  • Master’s degree and/or relevant professional designation is preferred.
