MD Management Limited, a division of Scotia Wealth Management, has an exciting opportunity for a Regional Head, MD PIC & Signature to join our team in the GTA.
As a Regional Head, MD PIC & Signature, you will be responsible to lead and oversee MD Signature in Canada ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The Regional Head, MD Signature (HNW) has the National responsibility for the implementation, growth, development, promotion of MD‘s High Net Worth services and PIC business and to ensure integration with other business lines of MD Financial Management (MD). They are responsible for developing service and practice management standards for the HNW team, and ensuring these standards will allow MDM to attain both quantitative and qualitative performance goals. Incumbent will also be responsible for the overall HNW teams’ preparedness, strategy, and coaching. They are responsible to ensure appropriate integration across the various service providers that ensure the smooth operation of the HNW business at MD (Financial Services Operations, Business Performance Team, etc).

- Grow and make our Private Investment Counsel Business our primary offering.
- Lead and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Direct HNW practices with view to national consistency, assessing and developing best practices for regional team collaboration, time management, resource effectiveness, COI management.
- Oversee HNW employees onboarding process with focus on first year supervision.
- Liaise with the business integration team, incumbent will also be responsible for contributing to all innovation touchpoints impacting the HNW team.
- Collaborate with Regional Leadership teams.
- Direct the development and implementation of HNW strategy.
- Participate in business planning, as well as establishing and assessing business metrics.
- Support risk management assessments and functions.
- Lead and/ or manage the development, communication, implementation and measurement of HNW operational initiatives.
- Participate as a member of the SME team.
- Participate in ME Leadership initiatives.
- Handle escalated client complaints to ensure a satisfactory outcome for all parties.
- Influence the team to share best practices amongst themselves and with other regions.
- Foster a positive, team-based work environment that contributes to the integration of legacy regional and HNW teams; demonstrate and encourage all MD values and develop HNW as an “employer of choice”.
- In collaboration with Regional and Head Office management, monitor and assess ongoing performance of HNW employees, taking corrective measures when required.
- Communicate within the larger MD organization the benefits and opportunities of HNW services as well as the value proposition that HNW offers to clients; conduct presentations to various groups both internally and externally.
- Working closely with ME stakeholders (Regional Heads, Regional Managers), MS Product Management team (VP, AVP, Product Managers), MS Marketing Team (Marketing Managers, Content) to ensure sales objectives are met.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

The Must Haves:
- University degree or equivalent relevant work experience
- Deep financial services acumen
- Strong leadership ability to lead real and virtual teams
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills
- Proven track record of performance excellence meeting targets and objectives while providing exceptional customer service
- People development and training with a proven track record of remaining competitive in the market place
- Demonstrated excellence in strategic or tactical analysis and planning
- Experience in managing projects and multi-tasking in a deadline intensive environment
- Ability to recognize and interpret business issues/opportunities and recommend solutions through analysis
- Successful candidate will be expected to complete the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation within 3 months if they do not already hold it.
- Completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA) would be consider an asset.
- The Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
- The Conduct & Practices Handbook for Securities Industry Professional (CPH)
- Successful completion of a life licensed program such as Life Licensed Qualification Program (LLQP) *
- CFP (Certified Financial Planner)
- Successful completion of Branch Manager Exam.
- Business experience of 5 years or more in the financial services industry.
- Excellent financial services product knowledge.
