Position: Vice President, Leadership & Talent Management / Talent COE / Global Human Resources
Purpose
Provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight over talent acquisition, development, performance and succession planning for VP+ population. Responsible for aligning talent management practices with business goals, strengthening the organization’s leadership capabilities by developing effective and innovative strategies leveraging internal and external insights, and ensuring initiatives are well-integrated and drive a cohesive end-to-end experience for Leaders.
Accountabilities
- Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
- Leads the continuous evolution of the enterprise talent management framework to meet the future needs of the bank
- Effectively uses analytics to engage and focus stakeholder groups on critical leadership issues that may have the potential to impact the execution of our current and future business strategies
- Enhances collaboration across Talent COEs to enable the effective integration of initiatives and drive a seamless end-to-end experience for leaders
- Builds relationships to have deep awareness of SVP+ population that can support associated talent management initiatives and succession planning
- Leads the identification of critical leadership capabilities and risks based on strategic priorities of the bank; assessing and building the talent bench to mitigate leadership succession risks; facilitating organization-wide, seamless succession planning; ensuring diverse candidate pool for leadership roles; objectively assessing and comparing candidates
- Drive compliance with Bank and external regulatory reporting requirements
- Oversees the development and execution of executive talent acquisition strategy to attract top talent for key roles across the bank; strengthening talent bench
- Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
- Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
- Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
Education & Experience
- Deep subject matter expertise in leadership development, succession planning, and Executive Search
- Ability to generate a clear view of leadership assets and pipeline across the Bank
- Understanding of Scotiabank business strategy and talent strategy, and how Leadership can support them
- Awareness of leading practices in Leadership and external SME networks
- Driving innovative solutions that create value for HR partners
- Ability to think strategically and cultivate networks and relationships
- Manage vendor relationships
- Ability to translate strategy into actionable plans and results
