The team:

Scotiabank’s Global Technology Solutions (GTS)’s Global Systems Operations Centre (GSOC)’s Global Network & ABM Operations team is at the foundation of Scotiabank’s core network and ABM environments and ensures that critical systems remain available to service our customers, both internal and external.

The role:

Reporting to the Global Head, GTS - GSOC, you will provide direction, leadership, and oversight for the 24x7 Global Network & ABM (Automated Banking Machine) Operations team to ensure business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. You’ll work with the Global Head to establish annual objectives for the department and determine the allocation of responsibility for completing given tasks and projects within the GSOC.

You are responsible for managing multiple projects that vary in size and scale concurrently, with budgets exceeding $1 million. You’re also responsible for managing the day-to-day management and leadership of up to 50+ GSOC staff across multiple geographies. You will ensure all operational & service level agreements (SLA’s) are met in relation to Global Networks & ABMs, as GSOC monitors and manages 25,000+ Network/ABM devices globally and maintains services to 3,000+ branches and corporate offices.

In this role, you must be able to react quickly to resolve business problems and work extended hours as required to meet deadlines, and to ensure operations related incidents are resolved within bank approved SLA’s and with minimal impact to Scotiabank customers. To this end, you must be available, 24x7x365, on short notice to lead & guide staff during business disruption. When required, you are required to travel globally to locations within Latin America such as Mexico and Colombia.

Is this role right for you?

  • You get to provide effective leadership to the 24x7 Global Network & ABM Operations team within the GSOC and ensure clearly defined and approved standards & guidelines are maintained and adhered to in accordance with the bank’s standards and best practices.
  • You are eager to develop and lead the execution of innovation and delivery strategies for Global Network & ABM operations team in both production and non-production environments. As well, accountable for program design, policy formulation or operating standards within the network and ABM spaces.
  • You thrive on in a leading role on the development and oversight of all items related to network and ABM operations, coordinating the implementation of best practices and the adoption of suitable trends to mitigate risk to our business partners and clients.
  • You embrace defining business outcomes & this includes the articulation and definition of business outcomes and service level agreements, the metrics to confirm success of those outcomes and the identification of key underlying assumptions, business and technology risks, prerequisite initiatives, required supporting actions and intermediary outcomes.
  • You are keen to assist in the management of the GSOC to the Organizations Balanced Scorecard, preparing annual operating budget/business plan, ensuring overtime/staffing is managed efficiently, ensuring resource allocation is managed effectively, and ensuring that effective measurements to gauge the success of the unit are developed and maintained.
  • You like the challenges to build a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.
  • You are willing to oversee or verify expenditures associated with overall GSOC operations, staff technical training within approved department and project budgets as required.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • You can demonstrate excellent communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills in English. The same in Spanish is an asset.
  • You have at least 10+ years of progressive technical working experience in Information Technology, Network Operations and/or Operations/Command Centre Management.
  • You have at least 10+ years of hands-on technical working experience in a high volume, complex, demanding customer-oriented IT & Network environments.
  • You have at least 5+ years of senior level management and leadership experience managing diverse teams in varying locations globally.
  • You have a proven track record with Executive Level strategic influencing skills, which must include the ability to frame technology opportunities in terms of business values.
  • You can demonstrate broad technology knowledge within the network infrastructure and systems technology spaces & leadership with existing & new technologies.
  • You also have at least 10+ years of professional working experience in managing technical projects/programs.
  • You are recognized as a change champion & cultural catalyst.
  • You are adept at working under tight deadlines, conflicting priorities, and changing requirements.
  • You can demonstrate broad ITIL based knowledge with a focus on Network/Process Automation, Incident/Problem Management, Leadership/Process Communication and Change Management.
  • Completion of a post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems/Technology, or in a related field of study.
