Senior Assembly Engineer

Position Summary

The Senior Process Engineer is a key technical leader responsible for developing, optimizing efficient, high-quality manufacturing processes for automotive electronic components and systems. This role focuses on driving continuous improvement, ensuring process stability, and supporting both Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Back-End Production (assembly, testing, and packaging) to meet stringent automotive quality standards and production targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Development & Concept Creation:

    • Lead the development and implementation of new manufacturing process concepts and detailed production flows for new product introductions, ensuring alignment with product specifications and capacity requirements.

  • Manufacturing Experience - SMT & Back-End:

    • Desig of for SMT processes, including stencil printing, component placement, reflow soldering, and AOI/SPI inspection as well as inline denationalization and testing

    • Create and optimize Back-End production processes, including manual/automated assembly, functional testing, final quality checks, and packaging.

  • Documentation & Training:

    • Create and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including process designs, process concepts, Process Control Plans, and FMEAs (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).

    • Create list of equipment as per process design including investment calculation and process time calculation

  • Quality & Compliance:

    • Ensure all processes comply with IATF 16949 and other relevant automotive industry quality standards.

    • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to maintain low defect rates and high process capability (Cp and C{pk}).

  • Communication & Collaboration:

    • Act as a technical liaison between Customers, Quality, Maintenance, and Production teams.

    • Clearly communicate technical concepts, project status, and business impact to both internal stakeholders and external suppliers/customers, often utilizing business English in a global environment.


Required Key Experiences and Skills

  • Proven experience in creating robust process concepts and production flow documentation and implementation within a high-volume / low volume manufacturing environment.

  • Extensive, hands-on manufacturing experience in SMT (Surface Mount Technology), specifically with automated placement, soldering profiles, and inspection equipment.

  • Significant experience in Back-End Production processes, including final assembly, programming, functional testing, and environmental testing of electronic modules.

  • High proficiency in Business English (written and verbal) for effective communication, documentation, and international collaboration.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply process engineering tools such as FMEA, SPC, 8D's methodology, and Lean principles.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.

  • Experience: Minimum of $5+$ years of experience as a Process Engineer, with a significant portion in the automotive or high-reliability electronics sector.
