The Sanmina Fremont facility is a full-service enclosure systems solution manufacturing plant. Located in California’s Silicon Valley, this facility produces low-to-mid volume New Product Introduction (NPI) runs to full-scale volume. The Fremont facility offers everything from small piece parts to fully integrated and tested systems. Supporting diverse technology sectors including semiconductor, telecommunications, and medical equipment, the Fremont facility offers a wide array of services including sheet metal fabrication, welding, painting and clean room assembly.
Job Purpose:
The Engineering Technician responsible for daily engineering assistance to production to build & update engineering part records, disposition discrepant materials, maintain and control metrology tools, and process equipment to deliver parts and kits to customers in a safe manner with desired quality.
Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work under direct supervision of engineer or manufacturing management.
- Provides functional input to the engineering team as a part of new product development efforts.
- Coordinates initial product builds and confers with Project engineering on manufacturability and testability of new products.
- Documents manufacturing processes and provides instructions and procedures for new products prior to release.
- Coordinates Manufacturing Cost Saving Initiatives.
- Analyzes and plans space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment for maximum efficiency.
- Confers with planning and project engineering staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production method.
- Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Education and Experience:
- Requires 2-4 year of related work experience
- Technical Certification or College courses preferred.
- Experience working with lean manufacturing principles including Kaizen, 5S, Kanban/pull and Six Sigma.
- Read and understand prints and drawings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential.
- Hands on assembly and troubleshooting
- Must be able to read technical documentation.
- Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision to complete assignments and report status.
- Experience building and troubleshooting mechanical systems, optical systems, robotics, motion control, semiconductor capital equipment, biomedical equipment or x-ray or electron-beam systems.
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to generate and redline procedures and documentation.
- Experience working in engineering prototype development environment.

Salary Range (annual): $52,000 - $60,320 ($25hr - $29hr). Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package.
