Job Overview:

The ideal candidate is a senior technical expert who architects and delivers advanced FPGA-based real-time media and high-performance processing systems. You bring deep knowledge of FPGA architectures, high-bandwidth data paths, and complex system integration. You drive technical direction, solve high-complexity problems, and elevate engineering excellence across the entire FPGA development lifecycle. You collaborate closely with software, hardware, and verification teams to ensure world-class system performance, reliability, and product innovation.

Who You Report To:

Senior Director, Technical Product Management, Production Switchers

What The Job Is All About:

Architecture & Technical Strategy

  • Architect high-performance FPGA solutions for real-time processing, including data-path design, clocking/reset architecture, memory hierarchy, and high-speed interfaces.
  • Define and maintain high-level FPGA design requirements and specifications.
  • Perform detailed analysis and trade-off evaluations for device selection, resource usage, timing feasibility, and performance scaling.
  • Establish best practices for FPGA development methodology, coding standards, and verification processes.

Design & Implementation

  • Develop advanced RTL using Verilog/SystemVerilog for high-bandwidth pipelines, hardware accelerators, timing-sensitive logic, and complex interconnect subsystems.
  • Implement SoC-class FPGA architectures including AXI/Avalon interconnects, DMA engines, high-speed memory controllers, and multi-rate clocking architectures.
  • Integrate high-speed serial interfaces and IP cores such as PCIe, Ethernet, high-speed transceivers, and video/audio transport interfaces.
  • Drive timing closure and physical implementation including synthesis, floorplanning, constraint development, and place-and-route optimization.
  • Develop IO ring configurations and pin-planning for Xilinx and Intel devices.

Verification, Integration & Debug

  • Lead verification strategy using simulation, UVM-based environments, constrained-random testing, and coverage-driven methodologies.
  • Perform FPGA bring-up, system integration, and in-lab debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and embedded logic analysis tools.
  • Debug complex real-time behavior such as synchronization, multi-rate timing, dataflow bottlenecks, and high-throughput processing.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware teams to ensure full system performance and feature correctness.

Technical Leadership

  • Lead design reviews, technical investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Mentor FPGA developers, supporting growth in architecture, RTL design, verification, and implementation.
  • Promote continuous improvement through automation, reproducible build flows, enhanced verification depth, and robust release processes.
  • Provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams on FPGA capabilities, constraints, and implementation best practices.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with software, hardware, verification, test, and manufacturing teams across all stages of development.
  • Support NPI processes including design documentation, integration support, test development, and release readiness.
  • Interact with internal stakeholders and external partners for technical coordination and feature integration.

Who You Are:

A senior-level FPGA architect and developer with broad technical mastery, strong analytical skills, and a proven ability to deliver complex FPGA systems at scale.

Core FPGA Expertise

  • Expert in Verilog / SystemVerilog RTL design.
  • Deep knowledge of reset and clock domain management, flow control, arbitration, high-bandwidth pipelines, timing closure, constraints, and hierarchical FPGA-based SoC architectures.
  • Extensive experience with Xilinx UltraScale+/MPSoC and Intel Arria 10, Stratix 10, Agilex families.
  • Proficient with industry-standard FPGA toolchains such as Vivado, Quartus, and ModelSim/Questa.

High-Speed Interfaces & Real-Time Processing

  • Proficiency with PCI Express, multi-rate Ethernet, and high-speed video interfaces such as SDI, HDMI, or DisplayPort.
  • Experience with high-speed transceiver architectures and SERDES-based protocols.
  • Strong understanding of real-time media processing pipelines, multi-format/multi-resolution timing, synchronization, frame/field alignment, and low-latency transport.
  • Experience with high-density channel processing and scalable throughput architectures.

Memory & Interconnect Systems

  • Expertise with AXI/Avalon interconnects and high-performance DMA engines.
  • Experience with DDR4/DDR5 and high-bandwidth memory systems.
  • Familiarity with multi-layer buffering architectures for high-throughput data paths.

Verification & Debug

  • Strong background in simulation-driven verification, including UVM and constrained-random verification.
  • Proficient in waveform debugging and on-chip debug using tools such as ILA and SignalTap.
