The ideal candidate is part of our product development team creating world-leading next generation broadcast video processing technology including compressed video streaming. He/she coordinates with the product manager on overall product vision and leads embedded hardware design from concept to prototype to new product introduction. What the job is all about:

  • Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies like retrospectives, refinement, and sprint kick-offs
  • Develop hardware design from requirements, including functional block diagrams, and detailed analysis of implementation options
  • Architect, design, simulate and test leading edge HW solutions for Video market
  • Assist in validating new electrical and electronic components
  • Support the drafting team through detailed board layout reviews (frequently contributing directly to technical decisions relating to signal integrity, density, fabrication constraints, and thermal considerations)
  • Work with the drafting team to ensure accurate board layout and design
  • Work with the software and technical writing team to ensure a final quality product
  • Contributes to the selection of lab hardware design tools
  • Advise and make recommendations on matters relating to quality assurance, design for manufacture, and design to cost, to provide them with an improved basis for decision making and planning
  • Participate in a daily scrum meeting and work with team members afterward to resolve a blocking integration issue
  • Work with an FPGA designer to help test a high-speed transceiver link
  • Thoroughly self-test all designs and support product verification throughout development by reviewing test plans to align focus, validating feedback, and debugging/fixing hardware problems as required
  • Review manufacturing test coverage strategy and provide feedback to further improve coverage or to scale back based on acceptable risk
  • Work with the project manager to identify key project milestones and integrations
  • Work with suppliers, purchasing and the factory to ensure the overall design meets all requirements
  • Document the design to a high standard for internal and customer review
  • Perform other related duties as required

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or related discipline
  • Senior level hardware design knowledge and experience in high-speed embedded systems with SoCs, FPGAs and ARM CPUs
  • Expertise with Xilinx & Altera devices and associated design and debugging tools
  • Experience with designing large FPGA based hardware with high-speed hardware interfaces such as 12G-SDI, 25G transceivers, DDR4 interfaces, source synchronous parallel busses and PLL’s
  • Proficiency in general circuit principles, power supply design, CPU design, and signal conditioning
  • Strong debugging skills & proficient with typical lab equipment (scopes, JBERTs, network analyzers, WFMs)
  • Strong Windows computer skills; especially Excel & Visio - VBA scripting knowledge a plus
  • Knowledge of broadcast studio applications & workflow preferred; especially router / distribution systems a plus
  • Understanding of digital video and associated audio standards a plus
