The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical systems using Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks. You will be part of the multi-disciplinary team that develops cutting edge switcher and switcher panel broadcast equipment.
The Ross Switcher development team develops sophisticated hardware and software solutions from the ground up to deliver dependable technology and services that power exceptional live video productions seen by billions of viewers around the world every day.

What the job is all about:
- Design and develop mechanical systems for the Switchers product line. Items could range from servers, switcher panels, rackmount boxes, jigs, and other required parts.
- Work closely with hardware developers to design and develop mechanical circuit board outlines, mounting, and cooling solutions.
- You will take a project from concept, design, prototype, and testing phases through to completion and lifecycle support.
- Some industrial design may be required.
- Collaborate with Ross manufacturing as well as outside vendors, suppliers and contract manufacturers of plastic assemblies, molds, sheet metal, extrusions, and machined components to create prototypes with a goal to transfer these designs to volume production.
- Design for manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
- Accountable for accurate design documentation, either self-produced or via Drafting team.
- Collaborate with switcher draftspeople and the industrial design team.
- Work with technical product manager with respect to requirements and engineering changes related to aspects of mechanical work.
- Publish to the project team (and others as required) weekly project status reports.
- Actively participate in supplier qualification, evaluation, and selection for mechanical vendors.
- Evaluates design ideas based on factors such as appealing appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, market characteristics, and product specifications.
- Prepare accurate design documentation, and work with technical writing to support the development of user facing customer documentation.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure technical accuracy.
- Be familiar with Ross Video manufacturing practices, standards, and procedures.
- Follows internal procedures and Ross drafting conventions for all job functions.
- Advise and make recommendations to management on matters relating to quality assurance, to provide them with an improved basis for decision making and planning.
- Perform other related duties as required and do whatever is necessary to get the job done.

Who you are:
- Experience in the mechanical design cycle and knowledge of design principles
- Above average PC/Windows computer skills
- Familiar with use of Inventor Pro and AutoDesk Vault, SolidWorks, or other 3D CAD tools
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering program, and/or relevant work experience
- Creative, organized and very detail oriented.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Self-starter, quick learner and are able to work with minimum supervision in meeting schedules and project deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to R&D Lab on occasion.
- Flexible work arrangements: 100% in the office, remote, or hybrid options are available.
