Systems Engineering : ICT Systems Engineer
**GLASGOW, SCOTLAND BASED ROLE** As an ICT Systems Engineer for Rohde & Schwarz UK on the Type 26 (T26) Global Combat Ship project, you will be at the forefront of production on the Royal Navy’s most advanced warship to date. As part of a skilled, multi-national engineering team, you will be working to integrate the Rohde & Schwarz communications system with the various other support systems onboard the vessel, as well as ensuring that the system itself functions as designed and to the satisfaction of the customer. Rohde & Schwarz UK is going through an extended period of sustainable growth and this is no small part due to our involvement in the Type 26 Project. As a part of the T26 team you will be at the core of our project business and, through a combination of formal and on the job training, will gain the knowledge and experience to create your own progression path within the company. Be it remaining with the integration team in Glasgow and working towards Senior Engineer status, joining the Fleet support team to work closely with deployed Royal Navy assets or choosing to explore one of the many other exciting projects we are involved in around the world. There’s no limit to what you can achieve with Rohde & Schwarz!
Your tasks
- Support the deployment and testing of the R&S Communication System on the T26 platform
- Troubleshoot software and system issues as and when they arise onboard the vessel
- Support the Set to Work (STW) of various sub-systems incorporated by the comms installation
- Preparation of related software delivery documentation for approval by Senior Engineers
- Support the execution of customer facing Harbour Acceptance Trials (HATs)
- Occasional support of uplift activities at Supplier Integration Facility (SIF) located in Fleet, Hampshire
- Occasional support of uplift/test activities at Land Based Integration Facility (LBIF) located in Portsmouth, Hampshire
- Occasional support of integration/test activities at Rohde & Schwarz Plant located in Teisnach, Germany

Your qualifications
- Essential:
- Suitable qualifications in ICT discipline, or relevant experience
- Understand networking fundamentals and technologies: TCP/IP, LAN, SAN, Routers, Switches, Wireless Access Points, Firewalls
- Experience deploying and/or administering VMware (or other hypervisor technologies), Windows server, domain services (AD, DNS, GPO, WSUS) and Linux redhat/CentOS
- Basic understanding of Public Key Infrastructure and certificates
- Experience of maintaining hardware of one or more of the following: Servers, desktops, laptops and communication devices
- Experience of application deployment, configuration and testing
- Be able to troubleshoot complex systems and escalate if required
- Be able to read and interpret technical documentation
- Be able to work under own initiative or as part of a larger team
- Experience of adhering to a strict SHE Policy in the workplace
- Active SC clearance, or be able and willing to go through vetting process to obtain SC clearance
- UK Citizen with a minimum of 5 years residency due to the nature and requirements of the role Desirable:
- Understand RDBMS databases: e.g. PostgresSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle
- Writing and running test cases to meet customer acceptance criteria
- Experience with software lifecycle management tools: e.g. JIRA, GIT, IBM Jazz
- Experience writing technical documentation
- Knowledge of serial communication technologies and protocols
- Knowledge of Juniper/Cisco network devices
- Knowledge of military communication systems and standards
- Experience of working in shipyard environments
