Who we’re looking for:
We are looking for GIS and Data Specialist in our GIS Projects & Requests team. You will be reporting to the Sr. Manager, Network Access Support – GIS, and be accountable for geospatial data maintenance, transformation, and quality assurance for our Plant Records system and for reports and maps.
What you’ll do:
- Work with a variety of GIS applications, data transformation tools and data sources.
- Perform data manipulation through transformation workflows and programming, aiming to clean and convert data into its desired form.
- Analyze current geospatial data process, propose, and implement changes to improve performance.
- Analyze external data sets and map products and create automated processes for their periodical ingestion into the Wireline Implementation West Plant Records system.
- Work with others team members evaluating GIS tools and data sources for future utilization.
- Work with other GIS team members, Fibre team, Planning teams, and OSS team members.
What you bring:
- Degree/diploma in Geographic Information Systems, Geomatics or a closely related field. Work experience in the field will also be considered.
- Experience working with the Safe FME data transformation tool is a requirement.
- Knowledge of Databases and SQL language.
- Knowledge of the MS Office suite.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or BricsCAD.
- Knowledge of Python programming language is an asset.
- Knowledge of GIS datasets and symbology used in Telecommunications is an asset.
- Technical acumen, with a desire to stay up to date on the latest industry trends.
- Team player ready to learn and share your knowledge with other team members.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), analysis capabilities, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimum supervision.
