Job Description

We are seeking a talented Senior Applications Engineer to develop advanced reference designs and provide expert technical support for motor drive applications using high-voltage GaN (Gallium Nitride) and power electronics technologies. This role focuses on enabling AC motor control, inverter systems, and variable-speed drives for industrial automation, robotics, and energy-efficient systems. You will collaborate with customers, influence product definition, and create technical collateral to accelerate adoption of next-generation motor drive solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Definition & Application Expertise
    • Contribute to defining new products optimized for motor drive applications.
    • Provide technical insights to roadmap planning and feature prioritization.
  • Reference Design Development
    • Design and validate motor drive reference designs and evaluation boards using GaN-based power stages.
    • Ensure compliance with performance, thermal, EMI, and reliability requirements.
  • Customer Support & Enablement
    • Deliver expert technical support to customers, including troubleshooting and design reviews.
    • Conduct training sessions and workshops on motor drive design best practices.
  • Technical Documentation
    • Develop application notes, design guides, and white papers focused on motor drive systems.
    • Communicate product benefits and integration strategies effectively.
  • Feedback Integration
    • Gather customer feedback and relay insights to influence product improvements.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
    • Ph.D. preferred but not required.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years in power electronics or motor drive design and application engineering.
    • Hands-on experience with inverter systems, motor control algorithms, and AC/DC conversion.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong fundamentals in motor drive systems and power electronics.
    • Proficiency in schematic design and PCB layout (Altium preferred).
    • Familiarity with simulation tools (PLECS, LTSpice, Simplis).
    • Knowledge of magnetic component design (inductors, transformers).
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with motor control firmware (FOC, PWM techniques).
    • Understanding of industrial standards for motor drives and safety compliance.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
