About the role
As our Packaging Engineer in Project Hibiscus (or Disentanglement), you will be the lead engineer to help the Essential Home business relocate our internally filled products (St. Peters, MO) to External Manufacturing Operations/EMO. Our brands include Air Wick, Woolite, Resolve, SprayNWash, Easy Off, Lime-A-Way, D-Con, Rid-X, Glass Plus, and more
Your responsibilities
- Be trained in our spec system, (for packaging specs, assembly specs, bills of material, drawings, pallet patterns), our artwork management system, and our project management system, and more.
- By applying expert knowledge and these confidential documents, samples, and images, you will understand the package performance requirements to then provide guidance to the EMO project staff to ensure the new location can meet the requirements.
- Collaborate with internal and external team members for comprehensive packaging project management including trial protocols.
- Travel to EMO locations in the US for plant trials to validate and troubleshoot packaging and author/co-author trial reports with recommendations.
- After validation at EMO, create or revise documents such as specs, boms, or other related materials to communicate requirements and adherence to the new manufacturing including the Tech Manual for co-packers.
- Make recommendations for modifications or otherwise ensure the product is protected and the package delivers on its form, fit, and function. Must have good design understanding including dimensional interface and tolerances, etc.
- Interface via email, calls, Teams chat, or video platform, or in person with multidisciplined team such as: EMO Procurement, Project Managers, Procurement, Quality, R&D formulators, Marketing, Supply Chain, Legal, etc.
- Mentor a junior engineer in packaging technologies, document management, and professional ways of working.
The experience we're looking for
- 8+ years CPG Packaging experience and proven track record of exceptional delivery within Packaging career including multiple package commercializations.
- Experienced in depth and breadth of package development, testing, materials, components, molding/forming, sealing, assembly, print technologies, document management, commercialization, troubleshooting, tool development, and more.
- Knowledgeable of manufacturing environments as related to component storage, handling, package filling, capping, sealing, labeling, coding, assembly, packing, palletizing, transit, etc., ensuring a comprehensive view is considered during validations.
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Keen grasp of strategy, consumer insights, cost control, package sustainability including material choice, PCR inclusion, and recyclability.
- Project management skills and the ability to multitask and manage several projects at once. Understand and use Gantt charts.
- Presentation skills should you need to present on project status.
- Participate in project management meetings or any others that are pertinent to the role.

US salary ranges
$87,000.00 - $131,000.00
US pay transparency
The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
