About the role

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination and oversight of maintenance personnel and activities in a GMP-regulated manufacturing facility. This role ensures maintenance work is performed in compliance with regulatory standards, site procedures and operational goals. The Maintenance Manager will lead maintenance team resourcing, scheduling and performance while driving equipment reliability, audit readiness and continuous improvement - lead Maintenance Leads, Planners, Controls and Equipment Technicians and related calibration.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead resource planning and allocation of technicians, planners, and contractors to support GMP/non-GMP equipment reliability.
  • Align maintenance staffing and schedules with production needs, monitor team workload and performance, and guide skill development and training to inform compensation decisions.
  • Conduct daily operations reviews and manage departmental budgets, spare parts inventory, and key maintenance KPIs (MTTR, MTBF, OEE).
  • Ensure all maintenance activities meet GMP standards and regulatory requirements (FDA, EU, WHO).
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to resolve deviations, CAPAs, and change controls.
  • Support audits and coordinate with cross-functional teams on equipment qualifications, validations, and capital projects.
  • Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance using CMMS (e.g., SAP PM).
  • Execute maintenance plans across time horizons, approve work orders, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and rebuild planning while reinforcing KPIs that drive short- and long-term strategy.
  • Manage external service providers, including onboarding, scope definition, performance tracking, and safety compliance.
  • Strengthen OEM relationships to support reliability and capital initiatives.
  • Ensure contractor readiness in GMP and site protocols.
  • Analyze equipment data to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
  • Lead RCAs and implement improvements aligned with site goals.
  • Advance predictive maintenance technologies and integrate PDCA/SDCA routines into technician workflows.
  • Maximize planned downtime through robust scheduling and traceable work orders.
  • Promote safety and hygiene across all maintenance activities.
  • Ensure EHS compliance, support risk assessments, and participate in site safety programs. Recommend improvements to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement of team, equipment, and processes.
  • Ensure team competency, communicate with stakeholders to meet KPIs, and lead maintenance execution aligned with defined standards.
  • Support project implementation and uphold safety, cGMP, and quality compliance.

The experience we're looking for

- Demonstrable experience in managing large manufacturing operations, with a focus on driving performance and efficiency.
- A natural leader with a history of inspiring teams and a commitment to safety and quality.
- Proficient in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma.
- Effective communicator with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make swift decisions.
- Working knowledge of production logistics, supply management, and contract negotiation.

Salary Range

USD $110,000.00 - $164,000.00

Hiring Range: 110,000 - 140,000K

Pay Transparency

The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
