What is the opportunity?
- Lending Services within COO Group includes three pillars working collaboratively to provide end to end service support to our Capital Markets, Corporate Client Group and other business partners for lending products and supporting administrative agent responsibilities when mandated.
- The prime objective of the Credit Documentation & Security Analyst plays a key role in the mitigation of Business Lending credit and operational risk through comprehensive client documentation preparation due diligence and applicable processing activities of CCG Lending products and services (standard and complex letter agreements, collateral security, authorizations etc.) for Large Commercial Clients, Commercial Real Estate and International Subsidiary Banking portfolios nationally.
- Delivers exceptional client experiences by fostering robust partnerships with CCG Finance, RM, as well as GRM and RBC Internal law group.
- Provides value-added documentation preparation services while ensuring strict adherence to credit, risk, and compliance protocols.
- Proactively pursues continuous improvement initiatives, developing mutually beneficial solutions that harmonize superior client experiences with robust operational, credit, and compliance risk management. Ensures all efforts align seamlessly with Lending Services’ strategic vision and mission that is aligned with COO purpose.
What will you do?
Client Experience
- Prioritize client and organizational needs by simplifying, accelerating, and enhancing processes to ensure consistently outstanding outcomes.
- Apply deep knowledge of complex products, processes, and meticulous attention to detail to produce high-quality agreement packages for Large Commercial, Commercial Real Estate and International Subsidiary Banking clients.
- Maintain a harmonious approach to delivering differentiated client experiences while rigorously adhering to RBC policies, due diligence, and regulatory/governance requirements.
- Meet or exceed established metrics for specialized client activities, transactions, and processes, contributing to Client Service Commitments (CSCs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Act with agility in daily tasks, recognizing the impact of timely actions on client satisfaction, and take ownership of resolving complex issues—even those outside standard guidelines—to address escalations and long-term client needs.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure process milestones stay on track and proactively address potential client, operational, or risk issues early.
- Free up capacity for relationship-building by efficiently managing documentation processes, enabling RMs, CCGF, and others to focus on client engagement.
Business Operations and Risk Management
- Utilizes specialized knowledge to efficiently coordinate, prepare, and deliver complex Lending credit and security documentation for Large Commercial, Commercial Real Estate and International Subsidiary Banking clients.
- Validates supporting materials (e.g., Articles of Incorporation, Partnership Agreements) to ensure transaction details, terms, and conditions are accurately defined and approved.
- Partners with CCGF and RBC functional groups (e.g., Group Risk, internal law group) to mitigate risks (e.g., policy deviations) and escalate issues as needed.
- Prepares high-quality transaction agreements, including but not limited to: Standard Letter Agreements (e.g., Form 460/484); Non-Standard Agreements (e.g., CA/CAA Complex Agreements); and Collateral Security and Registrations.
- Provide day-to-day document preparation of an assigned group of generally more complex Bilateral facilities.
- Ensure security granted to RBC in support of loans is properly registered under PPSA and create document and security shells onto DMS.
- Conducts corporate searches, registrations and renewals within established guidelines and timelines
- Complies with delegated authorities, SECAF, and system access protocols, ensuring regular reviews for understanding.
- Takes accountability for resolving issues, errors, or high-risk situations identified through escalations, coaching, or QA reviews.
- Maximizes tools (e.g., Credit Hub, OpsHub etc.), maintains data integrity, and documents client interactions in designated systems (e.g., DMS, CCMS, ACBS) to ensure continuity.
What do you need to succeed?
Must haves:
- An Undergraduate Degree or College diploma
- 1-2 years of credit documentation and lending experience
- Strong operational background and related experience with proven demonstration of knowledge in lending/credit practices including, policies and procedures processes and Risk/compliance requirements including business and collateral security documentation
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with demonstrated effectiveness in collaborating across all organizational levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with accurate attention to detail and a systematic approach to task execution
- Ability to perform well under pressure to multitask and reprioritize tasks as necessary and meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Proven ability to develop and manage strong and effective relationships with internal and external business partners.
- Ability to convey Client First mindset to team members
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and RBC-specific systems (e.g., CCMS, DMS, ECM, ACBS, Digital Form Hub, Sales Platform, Collateral Guard).
