What is the opportunity?
RBC Hybrid Cloud and Intelligent Operations (HYCIO) is looking for a Senior Delivery Manager to lead end-to-end execution and governance of complex program and product delivery within our HYCIO portfolios. This role is crucial for building trust and transparency between product management, engineering, customers and key stakeholders and ensuring successful delivery of strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals and objectives. The role emphasizes; program management practices, agile delivery, collaborative team leadership, continuous improvement, execution oversight and portfolio reporting.
The Sr. Delivery Manager will leverage their unique technical domain experience along with expertise in agile practices and program management to facilitate delivery across multiple teams, enhance process control effectiveness, and ensure adherence to the Enterprise Initiative Management Framework (IMF) and HYCIO Product Delivery Model. This role is a blend of agile and traditional program delivery that requires Scrum Master and Program Management experience with a strong understanding of cloud technologies. This an excellent opportunity for someone who "grew up" as hands-on infrastructure/cloud engineer and wants to move to more of a Program Lead/Delivery Manager role OR someone who has a blend of Program/Agile Delivery expertise who wants to focus on infrastructure/cloud technologies.
What will you do?
Strategic Delivery Leadership
- Apply experience, knowledge, and delivery practices to drive execution across strategic programs and Agile product delivery simultaneously, supporting multiple teams.
- Facilitate execution and oversight of complex product and program delivery, including requirements gathering, solution design and work breakdown, backlog refinement, sprint planning, development and release.
- Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Architecture and functional leaders to ensure alignment with the HYCiO Product Delivery Model and RBC’s Initiative Management Framework (IMF)
- Lead without authority in an environment of ambiguity, supporting teams in navigating greenfield initiatives where solutions may not be fully defined.
- Remove impediments to delivery success through proactive management of dependencies, raising and tracking issues and conflicts, resolving minor issues, and escalating risks through product management, engineering, and leadership channels when required.
Communication and Reporting
- Promote joint accountability for delivery outcomes by supporting teams in solving productivity challenges, increasing partnership and flow of important information, and reinforcing expected behaviors.
- Implement robust tracking and reporting mechanisms using tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub, and Microsoft Suite to ensure transparency into delivery progress, dependency management, and execution outcomes.
- Manage and monitor delivery performance through key metrics such as throughput, cycle time, capacity vs. commitment, and other delivery indicators.
Coaching and Continuous Improvement
- Coach, mentor, and guide cross-functional teams in effective product management and Lean Agile delivery practices.
- Champion a continuous improvement mindset, facilitating retrospectives and driving ongoing enhancements to delivery processes and team effectiveness.
- Support the growth of Agile maturity and enablement across teams through ongoing coaching and improvement initiatives.
What You Need to Succeed
Must Have
- 7+ years of combined Sr. Project Management and Sr. Scrum Master / Agile Delivery Lead experience, including work on medium-to-high complexity initiatives, with expertise in both Agile and waterfall methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and partner with diverse stakeholders including leadership, product management, engineering, and application teams.
- Strong strategic leadership and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to align delivery objectives to business goals.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to bridge technical and business stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and outcomes-focused mindset, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Experience executing against delivery lifecycle standards, controls, and governance frameworks.
- Proficiency with delivery and collaboration tools including Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Mural, Tableau, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Agile certification such as A-CSM, KMP, or equivalent.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience establishing or implementing Product Operating Models.
- Experience working within the technology and/or financial services industry.
- Experience working with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
- Agile Coaching certification.
- ITIL certification.
- Certification or expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OCP, GCP).
