WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
The Global Equities Technology team is undertaking multiple initiatives to transform our Front Office platform, adding comprehensive support for Delta One products. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of complex trading workflows and platform engineering, where your contributions will directly impact the desk's ability to trade, manage risk, and scale operations.
You will have the opportunity to drive end-to-end delivery of new features and enhancements, from initial design through production release. You will shape technical architecture, balancing immediate business needs with long-term platform evolution. The role provides exposure to the full spectrum of senior developer work: engaging directly with front office users and business stakeholders to understand requirements, leading technical design sessions, mentoring team members, conducting code reviews, and contributing to production support and incident response. You will have visibility into live trading systems and the chance to optimize performance, remediate technical debt, and influence engineering standards across a large codebase.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Work with a large, global team of developers in building and maintaining high-quality, scalable software solutions for the RBC Capital Markets Equity Derivatives business
Migrating legacy systems to modern architectures (microservices, cloud, containerization)
Work closely with sales, traders and quants in defining requirements, aligning deliverables, and continually refining code for quality
Anticipate scalability, performance, and security challenges before they become bottlenecks
Contribute support and knowledge towards a transition to better DevOps tools, practices and metrics
Establish strong working relationships across business and functional units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners
Collaborate with groups to ensure to define and achieve deliverables and ensure initiatives are effectively integrated into RBC procedures and processes
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Must have:
Strong programming experience Java (17+), Python and Angular/AngularJS/React
Undergraduate degree or higher in a computer engineering or computer science discipline
7+ years of development experience
Passion for technology and large-scale software design with low latency or high throughput system design and optimization
Experience with equity derivatives, swaps, and options
Dedication to high-quality, clear, and well-tested code
Deadline-driven, detailed and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high-quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously
Strong interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-have:
Experience in Risk Systems and / or Pricing Model Integration
Understanding of Front Office trading workflows, risk management and lifecycle processing
