Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As the Director, Cross Border Assisted Channels Strategy, you will lead the development and execution of RBC Bank’s sales strategy. Reporting to the Senior Director, Product and Channel Strategy, you will oversee the performance of assisted channels, driving accelerated growth and client acquisition across the Canadian-U.S. cross-border niche. You will lead the performance of the Advice Centre in efficiently and effectively servicing the needs of RBC Bank’s cross border business, working in close collaboration with Digital Channels to enable capabilities in the client’s channel of choice and optimize costs to service. This role is critical in aligning RBC Bank’s cross-border value proposition with Canadian sales and service infrastructure, fostering collaboration with National Office partners, and ensuring RBC’s leadership in the cross-border market.

What will you do?

Strategy

  • Develop and advocate for RBC Bank’s strategy to achieve it’s accelerated growth aspirations.

  • Work in close collaboration with Regional Banking Advisors and Business Enablement, assess sales proficiency and capabilities across Assisted Channels and develops a roadmap to address gaps and enhancements.

  • Develops and oversees execution of strategies to driver referrals to acquire clients across Assisted Channels, including specialty channels such as Private Banking, Wealth Management, Financial Planning, Mortgage Specialists, and Business Banking lines of business.

  • Develops and oversee execution of client service strategies in collaboration with the Advice Centre and RBC Bank’s Digital and Operations leads to meet clients in their channel of choice.

Collaboration & Alignment

  • Represent RBC Bank with Canadian Sales and Advice Centre Leadership and National Office partners to build strategy awareness and engagement, and drive execution to support accelerated growth and service efficiency targets.

  • Ensure RBC Bank alignment to Assisted Channels’ strategies and investment roadmaps to maintain currency across sales and service platforms, role design, performance measurement and capabilities to ensure seamless client and advisor experiences.

  • Identify and lead initiatives to embed cross border solutions within the Canadian sales and service infrastructure.

  • Raises visibility of the RBC Bank cross-border client value proposition and solutions across Personal Banking Regional Banking and National Office through internal RBC communications and effective leader engagement routines.

Execution Oversight

  • Leads the development of high-quality channel performance reporting to oversee channel performance and identify best practices, variability and/or opportunities for enhancement.

  • Establish clear cost-to-originate and cost-to-serve targets aligned to strategic initiatives and efforts through a deep understanding of RBC Bank revenue and cost drivers and in alignment with Personal Banking performance targets, where appropriate.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 8–10 years of experience in sales strategy, client-facing financial services, and assisted channel management (e.g., branches, advice centers).

  • Proven expertise in strategy development, execution excellence, and performance management within a matrixed environment.

  • Deep understanding of Canadian banking culture and cross-border client needs.

  • Strong financial acumen to analyze revenue/cost drivers and set profitability targets.

  • Exceptional influence and communication skills to align stakeholders outside direct control.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, drive sales growth, and improve service efficiency.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.

Nice-to-have:

  • Certification in sales leadership or strategy (e.g., CSM, CFA).

  • Advanced skills in data analytics and sales enablement technology.
