What is the opportunity?
Our client is a specialist provider of asset services, custody, payments and treasury services. Founded in 1864, they are the 10th largest bank worldwide and the 5th in North America, as measured by market capitalization. Our client has a processing centre of operational excellence supporting 10 countries across three geographical time zones employing a Global Operating Model to maximise efficiencies across times zones and supports a 24/5 operational capability. The objectives for Malaysia are to enhance the scalability of their global operations, improve service quality via their ‘centres of excellence’ and to implement/leverage standardised processes globally.
To support the efficient and compliant processing of financial transactions, ensuring adherence to RBC policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls. This role collaborates with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely accounts payable services while maintaining robust documentation and system integrity.
What will you do?
- Provide support to the team/business for the overall day-to-day accounting and financial matters.
- Review expense claims for compliance with RBC policies, including eligibility, receipt validation, and approval workflows.
- Process reimbursements accurately and promptly, resolving discrepancies with claimants as needed.
- Verify invoices against purchase orders, contracts, and RBC policies (e.g., Delegation of Authorities)
- Ensure compliance with expense policies, tax regulations, and internal controls.
- Address payment inquiries and resolve vendor discrepancies.
- Support external vendor relationships to ensure payment accuracy and timely issue resolution.
- Execute timely and accurate vendor payments via approved methods (e.g., EFT, wire transfers).
- Process expenses in alignment with tax filing requirements and year-end reporting obligations.
- Perform regular reconciliations of accounts payable systems and investigate unreconciled items.
- Contribute to an effective control environment by creating/refreshing documentation of accounts payable processes
- Assist with process improvement initiatives, system upgrades, or audit preparations.
- Escalate unresolved issues to senior team members.
- Assist with daily Ad Hoc inquires and requests.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 2+ years experience in accounts payable
- BBA and/or MBA in Accounting/Finance
- Public accounting experience a plus
- Knowledge of banking industry
- Broad financial statement orientation and comprehension of US GAAP.
- Knowledge of various accounting applications such as – ADP, PeopleSoft, IBM Cognos, SAP, EGL, Bloomberg, Excel and Access
- Strong financial and analytical skills
