What is the opportunity?

Royal Bank of Canada seeks a Senior Analyst, Strategic Reporting and Analytics to lead the design, development, and optimization of data-driven reporting solutions for Senior/Executive Management. This role bridges complex operational and financial data with strategic decision-making across Global Risk Management (GRM) COO, building partnerships with GRM Transformation Management Office teams and subsidiary project management groups to deliver actionable insights..


What will you do?

• Design, develop, and maintain advanced Tableau dashboards and visual reports supporting data-driven decision-making across GRM
• Gather business requirements and translate analytical needs into clear reporting deliverables
• Design and optimize Tableau data sources for performance, scalability, and reusability
• Connect Tableau to server-based data sources (OData feeds) and design robust data refresh strategies
• Develop and maintain Python scripts for data ETL processes to streamline data manipulation
• Perform advanced data analysis using Excel (formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, VBA)
• Champion data visualization best practices and performance tuning within Tableau
• Ensure consistency and governance of key metrics, definitions, and calculations across reports
• Conduct deep-dive analysis to explain trends, variances, and anomalies; present recommendations to business leaders
• Document data models, business logic, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for managed dashboards

What do you need to succeed?
Must-have

• 5+ years in reporting, BI, or data analytics role with production dashboard and executive reporting responsibility
• Technical Skills:
  • Advanced Tableau proficiency (Desktop and Server): interactive dashboards, complex calculations (LOD expressions), data blending, and optimization
  • Advanced Excel: pivot tables, advanced formulas (INDEX/MATCH/XLOOKUP/SUMIFS), Power Query, basic VBA
  • Python proficiency (Pandas, NumPy) for analytics and ETL automation
  • SQL and relational databases experience
  • OData feeds configuration and integration
• Soft Skills: Analytical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail, ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders, excellent presentation skills

Nice-to-have

• Project Portfolio Management knowledge (Planview Portfolios)
• Agile environment experience (Jira, Confluence)
• Python RESTful API experience
