Digital Assets and Web3 Strategy Lead, RBCx Digital Assets Centre of Excellence
RBC Capital
Job Description
We are seeking a Digital Assets and Web3 Strategy Lead to support enterprise-wide exploration and development of digital asset and blockchain opportunities across RBC’s Lines of Business.
This role takes an outside-in approach to strategy, maintaining deep engagement with the global digital asset ecosystem to identify emerging technological breakthroughs, market structures, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics. The Strategy Lead will translate these external signals into actionable insights for RBC, assessing how advances in blockchain infrastructure, tokenization, decentralized systems, and digital financial rails may create opportunities or risks for the bank.
Acting as a bridge between external innovation and internal execution, you will help Lines of Business understand where the technology is heading, what new capabilities it enables, and how RBC can responsibly participate. The role requires the ability to evaluate early-stage developments, distinguish durable trends from hype, and frame potential applications in a way that aligns with RBC’s risk, regulatory, and operational environment.
Working closely with product, technology, risk, legal, and business stakeholders, you will shape RBC’s forward-looking digital asset strategy by guiding use case discovery, prioritization, and early-stage development in a coordinated and responsible manner.
What will you do?
- Embed within the global digital asset and Web3 ecosystem to maintain situational awareness of technological, market, and regulatory developments
- Monitor emerging blockchain infrastructure, protocols, and financial applications to identify capabilities relevant to a large regulated financial institution
- Translate external innovation into clear strategic implications and opportunity areas for RBC
- Partner with Lines of Business to identify, explore, and assess potential digital asset use cases
- Lead structured discovery efforts, including problem definition, value assessment, feasibility analysis, and risk considerations
- Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and product teams to shape early-stage solution concepts and roadmaps
- Support prioritization of initiatives based on strategic alignment, business impact, regulatory posture, and delivery feasibility
- Engage with risk, legal, compliance, and policy teams to ensure exploration aligns with enterprise guardrails
- Develop executive-read materials, briefings, and recommendations to support decision-making
- Contribute to the team’s thought leadership program by producing high-quality publications that elevate enterprise-wide understanding of digital assets, blockchain technologies, and their strategic implications for RBC
- Contribute to the evolution of RBC’s broader digital asset and Web3 strategy through ongoing research and insights
