Job Description

The Senior Manager, Procurement & Finance – AI, will lead the Finance pillar within a high-impact technology portfolio that spans AI across RBC. The focus will be to manage end-to-end financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, developer productivity metrics/impact, and executive reporting across the enterprise. The incoming person in this role will be the single point of accountability for financial integrity and insight across a portfolio supporting all RBC lines of business—leveraging modern data and AI tools to drive efficiency and awareness.

Job Responsibilities

1. Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead annual budget planning; align with enterprise cost optimization targets.

  • Build and maintain rolling 18–24-month forecasts, integrating both operational and value realization.

  • Monitor and communicate financial risk exposures, variance drivers, and corrective actions.

  • Use AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude Code, Power Query, Python-based analytics) to automate forecast modeling, scenario analysis, and anomaly detection.

2. Workforce Financial Oversight

  • Maintain and refine capacity models to support strategic workforce planning.

  • Leverage data analytics platforms to model workforce costs across FTE, contractor, and cloud spend categories in real time.

3. Financial Reporting & Insights

  • Produce monthly and quarterly financial packages for senior leadership.

  • Generate executive-ready dashboards and commentary (e.g. variance, run-rate, YoY/MTD analysis).

  • Translate financial data into operational recommendations with business impact.

  • Design and maintain self-service analytics using AI-driven tools; use advanced data visualization and predictive analytics to surface hidden cost drivers and optimization opportunities.

  • Lead or participate in ad-hoc projects and information requests as required

  • Collaborate and bring together multiple key stakeholders

  • Bridges the gap between business and technology requirements, linking strategy and execution.

4. Governance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory reporting standards, and cost allocation rules.

  • Collaborate with Vendor Management on accruals, invoice validation, and contract alignment.

  • Identify high-effort manual processes and automate them using AI and scripting tools; implement data validation rules and anomaly detection to improve accuracy and cycle time.

5. Partnership & Influence

  • Act as strategic advisor to technology and product leaders on financial matters.

  • Drive transparency and accountability by embedding financial rigor into planning cycles.

  • Support the business case development and ROI evaluation for large-scale tech investments.

  • Collaborate with engineering and data science teams to translate financial models into actionable insights, partner on cost implications of AI and data infrastructure investments.

6. Procurement & Contract Management

Contract Negotiation & Compliance

  • Lead contract negotiations and renewal cycles for AI technology vendors and managed services aligned with the Developer Productivity portfolio.

  • Ensure all contracts include appropriate cost controls, performance metrics, and compliance clauses aligned with RBC's vendor management policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with Legal and Procurement teams to validate contract terms, pricing structures, and risk mitigation strategies before execution.

  • Monitor contract compliance, including SLA adherence, invoice accuracy, and regulatory obligations; escalate breaches or performance issues.

Spend Analysis & Category Management

  • Conduct ongoing spend analysis across the portfolio to identify cost reduction opportunities, consolidation possibilities, and procurement savings.

  • Establish and monitor key spend categories (e.g. software licenses, professional services, contractor resources) with detailed cost attribution models.

  • Partner with Procurement to benchmark vendor pricing against market standards and negotiate volume discounts or favorable terms.

  • Develop and maintain a vendor performance scorecard tracking cost, quality, delivery, and compliance metrics.

Procurement Process Optimization

  • Identify manual and inefficient procurement processes; collaborate with Procurement teams to automate workflows using RBC systems and tools.

  • Implement data validation and controls within procurement cycles to reduce errors, improve cycle time, and enhance financial accuracy.

  • Design cost allocation rules and automated accrual processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to embed financial discipline and transparency into procurement planning and execution.

Must have:

  • 3+ years of experience in Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), or Business Management in a large enterprise.

  • Proven track record owning budgets >$50MM across technology or operations portfolios.

  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint required; proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools expected.

  • Proficiency with AI-assisted financial analytics tools (e.g., LLM Models, Python, R, or equivalent) to build custom financial models, automate reporting, and conduct advanced analysis.

  • Strong business, finance and accounting knowledge

  • Excellent analytical thinking and attention to detail

  • Strong understanding of workforce costing, including contractors and cloud-based spend.

  • Experience with procurement and contract negotiation processes, preferably within a financial institution

  • Experience in working / partnering with cross-functional teams within a large enterprise

  • Excellent executive communication skills—both written and verbal
