Job Description

What is the Opportunity?

Launch Your Career in Risk Management

RBC's two-year GRM Rotational Associate Program is a gold-star development initiative designed to accelerate your career in risk management. You'll complete four 6-month placements across diverse risk disciplines, including: Commercial and Wholesale Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Market and Counterparty Credit Risk, Retail Risk, Enterprise Risk, the Chief Operating Office and Financial Crimes.

Why this program stands out: Unlike traditional programs, you'll rotate across multiple disciplines, building a unique, versatile skill set that creates clear pathways to leadership. You'll gain exposure to work influencing enterprise-level decisions while building a network across the organization.

Associates gain invaluable experience and strategic positioning that accelerates growth in risk management and beyond.

Your Day-to-Day

The program provides an unparalleled support system to help you hit the ground running. You will benefit from:

  • A dedicated peer mentor and senior leader sponsor invested in your development
  • Comprehensive onboarding and training starting Day 1
  • Networking events, continuous learning opportunities, and direct access to senior executives and board-level leaders

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary by rotation, but typically include:

  • Engaging with enterprise partners on transformative, high-impact projects across the organization
  • Building risk-based financial models alongside senior developers and modelers—supporting stress testing, scenario analysis, and opportunity sizing processes
  • Designing and prototyping new processes, tools, and capabilities using dynamic data visualization, advanced segmentation, and analytics platforms
  • Leading specialized strategic projects that shape risk management practices across RBC
  • Creating impactful reports and insights for senior leadership (up to board level) and external stakeholders—translating complex data into compelling narratives that drive action
  • Supporting internal and external events including RBC and Group Risk Management initiatives

What You Need to Succeed

  • Strong quantitative foundation: You demonstrate mastery in math, computer science, financial engineering, modeling, or complex problem-solving. You think like a quant or developer. Python or SQL experience is a plus—we'll help you develop these skills if you don't have them yet, as they're core to your success in this role.
  • Creative storyteller with analytical rigor: You excel at taking complex data and big ideas and transforming them into powerful, actionable insights. You love designing smarter ways of working and visualizing information.
  • Self-driven and collaborative: You're comfortable leading without authority in a dynamic environment. You ask thoughtful questions, challenge the status quo, and take ownership of your output and vision.
  • Passionate about finance and risk: You have genuine interest in banking, finance, and risk management. You're excited about understanding how enterprises manage uncertainty and create value.
  • Excellent communicator: You have strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). You can distill complex ideas into succinct, story-driven narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.

What's in It for You?

This program catapults your career forward by providing exposure, learning, and immediate opportunities to make real impact. You will experience:

  • Meaningful ownership: Lead challenging projects with visibility to senior leadership and board-level exposure. Your work directly influences enterprise decisions.
  • Invested leadership team: Leaders are deeply committed to your development through structured coaching, mentorship, and continuous learning opportunities—with weekly, monthly, and quarterly touchpoints with your mentor and sponsor.
  • Accelerated career progression: Our alumni advance to senior analyst, specialist, and manager roles within 12 months of program completion, positioning you for long-term leadership trajectories within RBC.
  • Dynamic, high-performing culture: Work in a collaborative, progressive team environment where innovation is encouraged and your contributions are valued.
  • Comprehensive Total Rewards Program: Competitive base salary, performance bonus, comprehensive benefits, and investment in your professional development.

NOTE: Program Start Dates are May and September 2026.
