The US IT Operating Model Associate Director role is accountable to the Head of US Technology Governance & BAU Operations and will be responsible for the assessment, oversight and governance of IT Processes within CUSO’s IT operations.
The US IT Operating Model Associate Director and their team will build relationships with IT process owners and their respective teams to review how the processes are defined by the IT Process Owner and executed across the CUSO. This role will verify the process has appropriate Risk Statements, Control Objectives, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to achieve RBC IT Policies & Standards and meet US regulatory expectations. The Associate Director will also support the US CIO’s mission of driving towards consistency of execution assurance across technology programs supporting the CUSO, in terms of governance, risk management, and value realization.
What will you do?
- Continuously improve the US IT Target Operating Model that will drive accountability, integrated oversight, and consistent execution of IT Processes that support US business entities
- Execute US CIO BAU Operating Model capabilities working closely with Line of Business and Functions IT teams
- Enable effective process execution through structured process reviews and documentation efforts across IT domains, identifying opportunities for improvement and standardization
- Work closely with US IT stakeholders fostering a collaborative environment to ensure seamless development of key metrics and successful outcomes for good governance and oversight
- Establish relationships with Second Line of Defense Cyber & IT Risk function and RBC US Internal Audit function to collaborate on transparent governance over CUSO IT Operations
- Define, monitor, and analyze US IT processes and metrics to track and make data-driven informed recommendations to enhance outcomes
- Focus on ensuring appropriate metrics are consistently used to provide effective early warning of risks to performance objectives and provide appropriate responses
- Participate in relevant RBC US first and second line governance forums to represent US CIO office
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 7+ years’ experience in financial services industry in IT Governance, Risk Management, or IT Operations Management with demonstrated understanding of IT systems and operational processes utilizing industry leading practices and ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations
- Proven expertise working across IT process domains with the ability to connect governance, resilience, service management, performance and operational effectiveness into a unified framework
- Solid verbal and written communication skills and an ability to distill complex issues into clear, compelling narratives for senior management
- Experience with process modeling or documentation using tools such as Visio or similar platforms.
- Familiarity of supervisory expectations expressed by US Regulators in the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) IT Examination Handbooks, Federal Reserve Supervisor Letters, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency Bulletin and communications.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, IT risk management, IT resiliency, IT infrastructure, IT operations, IT service delivery, and IT change management processes.
- Experience in coordination of transformational efforts, in a large, complex ecosystem across disparate stakeholders.
