The Retail Banking industry is changing rapidly with digitization of products, services, and channels, emerging non-traditional competitors, changing client demographics, preferences, and choices, and heightened regulatory attention on sales practices within retail banking sector across the globe. This role will help deliver an effective conduct risk strategy with a focus on designing and delivering advanced analytics aimed at mining insights from advisors' activities, sales results, client information, etc. to identify behaviors and sales practices that are not aligned with the target client experience or the RBC code of conduct. Collaborate with a diverse set of colleagues from across the enterprise (within Personal Banking, Operations, T&O, HR, Compliance, Group Risk, Fraud, Corporate Investigations Services etc.) and contribute to world class analytical tools that will help ensure RBC has strong and consistent sales and conduct practices in place.

What will you do?

  • Define and drive the long-term analytical strategy for developing, enhancing, and maintaining cutting-edge assets (including AI/ML models) to address complex conduct risk challenges.
  • Set the vision for the analytical team, ensuring alignment with RBC’s broader risk management and business objectives.
  • Deliver best-in-class analytics to proactively identify, monitor, and manage risks related to employee conduct, sales practices, and client interactions, ensuring alignment with RBC’s risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
  • Lead enterprise-wide efforts to address emerging conduct risk by partnering with key stakeholders (e.g. Operations, Cyber Security/JSOC, Compliance, LOBs, HR, Compliance, CIS, T&O, Fraud) to develop integrated solutions and foster a culture of risk awareness.
  • Mentor and guide a high-performing team of data scientists, developers and analysts fostering innovation and delivering actionable insights that drive effective risk management and operational excellence.
  • Oversee the management and optimization of data infrastructure to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient analytics and reporting capabilities, enabling real-time monitoring and decision-making.
  • Develop intuitive, actionable insights and dashboards to empower stakeholders with clear visibility into conduct risk monitoring programs, enabling proactive intervention and strategic decision-making.
  • Build on subject matter expertise to analyze structured/unstructured data (e.g., advisor activities, client interactions, transactions) and identify patterns indicative of high-risk or exemplary sales practices, driving actionable insights for conduct risk mitigation.
  • Develop and refine analytical solutions using statistical/machine learning techniques (e.g., predictive models, LLMs, deep learning) to test hypotheses, baseline behaviors, and detect anomalies across the retail banking network.
  • Shape the proactive monitoring strategy for advisor practices and client experience, leading Proof of Concept projects, risk mitigation planning, and iterative model enhancements aligned with regulatory and macro-environmental changes.

  • Advanced data analytics, insight generation and visualization (i.e. tableau, dashboards)
  • Experience with managing conduct, regulatory and/or operational risk.
  • Deep understanding and proven ability to build relationships with internal and external partners.
